I love toasties. But I'm fed up of spending £15 every time I want one.

Those things are impossible to clean without scratching the non stick surface!

You're doing it wrong, a quick wipe down with a paper kitchen towel whilst they are still warm is what they need. This method also 'adds' flavour to the next one in a couple of weeks time thumbup

Even with the molten lava all over the back of the thing?

Wonder if we've still got ours? Hummm, time to go shopping.

My parents had a Kenwood one that they got as a wedding present, 26 years ago. It finally gave up the ghost last year and we replaced it and the new one is st compared to the old one. Doesn't toast the bread and yes it is indeed, a pain in the arse to clean.

Could always dab a bit of tissue paper with oil and wipe it all over, or use cooking oil spray?
I always end up putting too much filling into mine and it just starts dripping out sauce or melted cheese after afew minutes.

i had one of these when i first moved out, was at least 10 years old when i was given it and it lasted me for years. only got rid of it after a girlfriend managed to break it somehow.

the one iv got now is easyer to keep clean as the plates can be removed but they dont seal as well as the old one.

I have to admit it, but a McDonalds Big Breakfast is always appealing, although I haven't eaten one in around 2 years. But the smell always has me dribbling.

And KFC chicken. Not the fries. That's a very guilty pleasure around once a year.

And if someone dare mention sandwiches.... Nutella and Marmite is rather nice.

Cold sausages dipped in jam (had a few last night before making supper) are lovely.

Rustlers and microwave burgers. Yes! Microwave the meat, toast the bun, cheese and sauce on top of the burger. Done.

Sometimes, when I know I haven't taken anything out of the freezer to defrost, I pop into Tesco to the nearly out of date stuff section of the fridge aisles, and get something from there. Tesco Piing! pasta pots are good.

After a conversation in the office this morning, I've found out that they still make McCain Micro Chips. I want to find these and try them out again lick .

Micro chips are tasty and convenient, no sacrifice if you're heating up a meaty/gravy type meal.

The Nutella and marmite is a bit like an invitation to kiss a hens bottom, but credit to simes for trying/enjoying it.

As regards toasties, I went back to pan frying this year. Harder to get them perfectly perfect every time but somehow more rewarding.

I know it's not microwave filth, but i feel dirty just looking at it.
I share your excitement on that one - Reds is a constant source of temptation for me but I've told myself I'll only visit when I lose some weight and earn it as a treat.
That really appeals, and has done for a few years since it first got created.

The only problem for me is that, despite living in the land of the free and the home of the terminally lardass, there's nowhere convenient selling them.

By convenient, I mean "not having to pay to get in to a stadium solely to buy a burger, eat it, feel sick, leave after 5 minutes".

No they're not hehe

Lastnight was a can't be arsed cooking night, possibly because of this thread. I had Micro Chips, Piing microwave pizza, and mushy peas (microwaved).

It was good. But I did open the micro chips carton, look inside and immediately put 2 boxes in because they were childrens portions.

Seriously, I urge you all to try Nutella and Marmite. Really rather lovely combination.

Maybe it's my tastebuds, but I always find that after eating something very sweet, I want something savoury. The reverse is also true.

Honey and Marmite is another excellent combination. Satisfies both sweet and savoury needs at the same time.
