Sweet and sour Hong Kong style pork, peanut chicken satay, special fried rice, and a load of chicken I had left over mixed in. It is bloody good!

Döner and chicken kebab in nan with their odd "chilli powder in yoghurt" sauce. The döner was all "scraps" and can't really be seen but it was a decent layer.

I do think Calzone fillings are getting a bit sparse around these parts at the moment though.

Yup, calzone sandwiches are awesome. I agree about the fillings being sparse but it does mean you can stuff a few chips in there as well.

My go to emergency work lunch snack from the burger van. £3.80 Double cheeseburger with everything on it. Of a decent size with just the right amount of greasiness.

There is a burger van in the Wickes car park in Hayes that does the absolutely best tasting filthy burgers. If I've got time, I'll pay it a visit next week. And then that's a good excuse to grab a curry or kebab in Hayes/Southall as well.

I went for the first time today and was underwhelmed. It's wasn't bad as such, it just wasn't as good as I'd expected (or for the price point).

I was a bit shocked at how basic it was inside (Leeds, Cardigan Fields) too, for the price point I expected something above a 3am takeaway experience.

On the plus side I did like the drink machine.

Funnily enough I also went to five guys last night.

(not all for me) 3 cheese burgers, 3 chips and 2 juices. £40 quid! A bit steep no?!

Well another weekend of rugby another filthy take out, went to the same place as last time in Kippax as was only place open after getting back from the grand final (Don't worry I'm not in my boxers this week )

This time I went for a King Kong spicy chicken fillet burger with salad and chilli then for good measure a side of Kebab meat,




I knew from the name King Kong it was going to be big but wasn't expecting this!




Wasn't the best burger I've had but managed to finish it, took some doing though the bread had already started to fall apart by the time it turned up so it pretty much disintegrated once I started eating, so ended up eating each fillet individually by hand/fork it was also meant to come with bacon but I've never seen bacon look square and burnt red!

I had about four slices of the kebab meat before I threw the towel in and had to leave it, quite glad I did now as felt quite ill shortly after!

The small fries at Five Guys must be really small too, the £4.00 portion we got to share was what I'd normally want just for myself. I left hungry.

The local "Fayre & Square" pub "pork and mac stack" burger I had recently was a far nicer experience all round and I'd consider that place to be on a par with the Harvester, lower even?

There is a whole thread on here about 5 guys. For me the burgers are not great and you have to get them out of the foil wrapping immediately or they sweat and the bun which is only average anyway goes really soggy. The chips (cajun spiced) are the stars at 5 guys. The drinks machines are rolling out in other places so thats not a big deal anymore. Price wise they are a bit steep compared to the US and in London they are on par with Byron which is a far nicer experience rather than a McDonalds style one.

I've been to the local give guys a few times with workmates. Only ever had the veggie sandwich and the grilled cheese but I agree with them being somewhat pricey for the quality of food. The fries are good, cajun ones always seem overly seasoned to me though. I do like the drinks machine and the free peanuts but at £11 it's steep for what it is.

I've been to the one in Notts and thought the cajun fries were amazing, burgers just good for the price. Just seem to be silly expensive, especially for Nottingham, its not London is it!

I failed at the foil thing because my wifes bacon burger had no bacon in and I had to go back with it before releasing mine to the elements. On that front they gave me bacon wrapped in foil to add myself, to an £8 burger, maybe next time I have to hop over and cook it too (which might make it less overdone I guess).

I just think the local places like Cattlegrid, Byron, Reds, Patty Smiths etc all do it better for the same money and other places do it for less. Signs seemed to be lacking, I saw peanuts but it wasn't clear they were there to be taken, the menu doesn't mention how many burgers are included, you're already at the till by the time you see what toppings you can add... just not the experience I expected.

It's like a low-rent version of "handmade burger Co" where you sit in a toilet-themed cafe rather than a restaurant.
