Where to go for a burger in London

When I used to go to Tinseltown the burgers were decidedly second rate. I think it trades mostly just on being open all night and having milkshakes, not on the quality of the food.
Sorry to be such so uptight about this, but there are so many second rate burgers out there. I don't know why more places can't get it right.

It's a bit annoying, but he knows his burgers.

Useful site, cheers.
Byron burger just doesn't do it for me. Massively overpriced, small portions, greasy onion rings, can never taste their special sauce also there is massive inconsistency between branches + I always leave hungry out of that place.
On the other hand GBK has massive portions, a good selection and the service is pretty good, the meat can be slightly tough at times, also some occasions I've found their buns to be a bit stale but everything else has been perfect with them. I just checked out their updated menu and it seems they have new buns and some new burgers. Also they have pretty epic student deals.
I've also tried burger and lobster, it's a nice burger but definitely not worth the £20 asking price.
I'm really looking forward to try meat liqueur, that place looks proper dirty american type place you see on man v food.
There is also a place near me in Hatch End called Chuck, it was decent.

This is my kind of thread.
Myself and a friend have an opinion that you can tell the quality of any eatery by their burger.
In theory burgers are very simple, meat, bun and toppings. Many places get this so wrong that it is criminal.
If they can get a burger right then it is worth going back for.
We have a list of the best local Burgers and we occasionally travel to see if we can find more good Burgers.
If anyone in the Chobham/Sunningdale/Bagshot area want's the list i will be happy to provide it.
Mmmmm,

Just skimmed through the thread and no one's mentioned the Hard Rock Café near Hyde Park Corner. I used go the there frequently 30+ years ago, people would queue to get in and it was just about the only place to get a decent burger in London. As I've not been for 20 years no I have to ask, is it no longer any good or has it just fallen out of favour?

Wow...thanks for all the replies....definatly some food for thought
Has anyone more views on Bodeans? It looks my kinda place, my Mrs loves pulled pork, I see there is a branch in Tower Hill, very handy for the train home!
I went to the Fulham branch at the weekend! Good food, good prices and a glass of Sam Adams, It'll be a good choice : )Has anyone more views on Bodeans? It looks my kinda place, my Mrs loves pulled pork, I see there is a branch in Tower Hill, very handy for the train home!
Another +1 vote for Bodeans. I work around the corner from the one in Tower Hill and i'm now a rather fat bd because of it. The lure of a 16oz burger is too great to resist on cold days. Their full rack of ribs are a challenge too.
Plus if you are going into London on the weekend, there is free parking in the City, winner!
