Nothing at all. What pisses me off is it being described as "Pear Cider" mad

Heresy I know, but I do like a pint of Strongbow. I also like a can of Stella Cidre, too.

The OH only likes a Warm Dicken's.
She does, doesn't she. wink

Go to "traditional" and you'll find proper Somerset rocket fuel. I recommend the Cheddar Valley. Here's a picture - this is about the true colour:

Just down the road from me, If it's not from Somerset it's not cider as far as I'm concerned!! Should be a protected name like Champagne smile

Henry Westons Vintage in Bottles 8.2% - lush

Westons Organic in the 3ltr Wine Box 7.5% from (a very hazy) memory, ASDA used to sell it ... not sure if they do any more.
I stay away from the >6% stuff, for me they just don't taste as nice (normally only have one or two drinks at a time so percentage isn't usually an issue).

You'll all hate me, but I really like the Brother's Toffee Apple cider paperbag

Isn't there naming convention that says you can only call it Perry if made and fermented with 100% pears, Pear Cider is also allowed to have a certain amount of apples?

Probably a branding thing - Perry having Lambrini/Babycham connotation, and producers are trying to sell to a new market, and I guess CAMRA are very vocal in defending traditional methods so want to make sure the terminology is correct. So I can see why the conflict happens

Henry Westons, Harry Sparrow, Cornish Rattler, Wyldwood

my favorites, not exactly session ciders as they are a bit on the strong side

As well as the strong, dry West Country style ciders, I quite like this French style stuff from Sainsburys;

Fairly sweet, only about 5% and has an unusual sort of caramel/toffee flavour to it.

I'll agree with the Brothers Toffee Apple. Bar near me has it on tap (and bottle also) with the toffee apple 'sauce' from a bottle poured into a pint of Brothers. If you get a decent barmaid/man, they can sometimes give you a bit too much sauce which is an extra kick!
Lovely stuff! lick

Thank you! Been trying to remember the name of this stuff after having an incredibly drunken bottle of it in Wetherspoons a few months back, all I remembered was having a rather nice cider that was pretty cheap. Sadly, its not something northern shops seem to stock.

I've not seen it in any shops down here either. I think you can only get them online or if your lucky enough to live down Cornwall way. All their supermarkets stock them.
Nice cider though, goes down too easy considering the 6% odd lol

All about the Henry Westons for me, the 8.2% stuff of course.

Seems to be on offer in the Co-op since for ever, two bottles for £3, bargain.

I discovered Somersby while spending a year in Canada and was very happy to find that it is just being introduced here. Fairly sweet and only 4%, but very refreshing. As far as I know it is only available in Tescos for now. But at £2.50 for a 4 pack, is worth a try.
Havent tried it, but the god awful ad on TV at the moment is doing its best to put me off.

Get yourself down to the Thatchers cider farm near weston. 5 Litres (9ish pints) of Thather's tradition in dry, medium or sweet for about £7. Insane value for what is 7.3% awesomeness.
