Equity for punks 4 was released today. Anyone thinking of investing? I bought in a few years ago, not sure it's worth me upping my share as there's still no timeline for being able to cash out.

Read on here that Adnams have a similar shareholder scheme - does anyone know what it costs to get involved in this?

Also, anyone heading up for the AGM? Living in Scotland I'd likely drive but thanks to the new drink driving law, don't particularly fancy my chances the next day. Think I'll give it a miss this time.

Also bought shares today. smile I'm sure the AGM was in the AECC last year? I'd imagine it'll be the same this year.

I had missed out on the previous issue, so decided to buy 10 shares to hit the higher discount levels - I would have saved over £30 on my last case alone, and buy from the London shop occasionally so it will add up.

Having bought and sold a few shares in the past, it makes a change to have a holding that firstly I have an interest in, and provides some immediate benefit, even though they are still unlisted. Secondly, they seem to be doing something right, which means the chances of at least getting the original investment back are high, as well as increasing the potential down the line.

And if anyone does feel inclined to buy a few shares, sharing your referral code has some reward points for both parties - feel free to use R424778.. wink

Does it get you a discount in the pubs? As I'll buy a few and use your code if so.

The minimum of two shares gets you a 5% discount in the pubs, and over 10 gives you 10% in the pubs smile

For online orders 2 share or more gives you 10%, 4 or more is 15%, and 6 or more 20%.

There are more details here: https://www.brewdog.com/equityforpunks

Looking forward to trying out my discount on Friday!!

Mmm so £475 for 10 shares I reckon I spend on average £30-40 a week in the bar near me so in 2 years or so they could have paid for themselves. scratchchin

Will have a think.

I do object to the way they think they're changing the world.

Beer has been done before, and done better, and cheaper. Bars - also been done.

Their beer is fine, but not at all special. It all rings so hollow.

All they're doing well is overcharging hipsters (which is easy). Granted, none of the other breweries managed, or even tried, to do this.

I'd ask the groovy hipster if he thinks bitter is so great, why he wasn't drinking it already? What a load of bks.
I think I broadly agree with this. I find their beer to be good quality (and admire them for trying styles that you don't often see in the UK), but not outstanding - and it probably should be, given that it always seems to cost more than anything else.

If somebody wanted to meet in one of their bars then I wouldn't object, but nor would I suggest going there myself.

You also get 10 quid of beer bucks and a beer on your birthday! 10 shares also gives you access to try new beers. No brainer...

£500 gets you a fair way into home brewing. Not sure I'd 'invest' £500 to get a small discount of beer.

I get 10% off beer at my local brewery for £40/year.

The discount on beer is an addition to owning the shares which will hopefully appreciate.

Also don't forget the AGM, actually you probably will. It's a night out with good entertainment, food and drink.

Is the cost of each share higher than previous?

I wish I had done the previous one as I was tempted - I think now I may have missed the biggest growth.

The price is the same at £95, but rather than getting 1x5p share, you now get 2x1p shares. Read up on their growth and plans for new bars, as long as the new brewery can keep up with production, I believe the newest shares should still offer a good return.

That said, the reason I bought mine was more for the AGM (which is great), discount online/in bars and just to be part of something beery in general.

If I can find other schemes, I'd be tempted to invest in other breweries.

Where is AGM
Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Saturday 6th June.

You need to RSVP, might be worth emailing them to find out how. There was a Google docs form but that was a couple of months ago.

Might do but it did say on the prospectus that AGM was one of the benefits of purchasing shares so I'm sure they will be in touch...

At this weekend's AGM there were details announced that 22% of the company has been sold to an American venture capital firm for a price that values the firm at a Billion Pounds.

This puts the shares at £131.80 each versus a (slightly rigged) selling price of £47 during last October's selling window.

It was announced that us 'Equity for Punks' could sell upto 15% or 40 Shares at the new valuation - a circa 2500% increase for early investors.

However, it turns out they are also doing a 10x stock split at the same time so the 40 share limit is actually a cap of around £500.

I am minded to sell 40 of my shares as that returns my original investment, leaving the remaining 96% as pure profit (if there is ever a time in the future that I can sell them at a decent price).

Nice to see my lowly ten shares bought during EFP IV have gone up in value, however I'm going to hold on to them for the time being to keep my discount levels - the shares have already paid for themselves in that respect..

Also a shareholder from about 4 yrs ago.

I am interested to know how the £1bn valuation comes about - for a normal company with shares on the open market it is share price x number of shares and the market determines the price and therefore the market capital. Brewdog determine their own share price; what do they base it on?

According to the mail I got on Saturday if we chose not to take capital out we can get 6 cans of beer instead, aparrently regardless of number of shares owned. Not sure it's a great incentive but many were never looking for a return, and compared to sticking it in the bank I suppose 6 cans of beer isn't a bad return on a hundred quid over 4 years these days...!

It seems to be from the VC paying 220 million for 22% therefore 100% = 1 Billion.

On the other hand, I love Brewdog beers. Most of the rest of the stuff I've tried all tastes the same. Each to his own eh?

And, yes, I bought shares in EFP 1 and 2.
Above from the 3rd post in this thread back in June 2013.

Nice to see that at least one of my investments has potentially paid off...
