In the UK..... cheesburger, regular fries and a refillable drink = £14.90
How frikkin much eek for a takeaway burger/chips & soft drink, the world has gone mad.
Its a large double patty (fresh made) burger and enough chips for two (again fresh made) and as much as you would like to drink. Its not a McDonalds portion but it isn't a sit down and be served restaurant either so falls between two stools

That does seem crazy expensive. I just had a really nice sweet chilli chicken and noodles for about £6 from Kokoru, a KFC meal would be a similar price. I can get a decent burger, chips and a pint of beer for <£15 in local pubs. I really can't see the draw of 5 guys, especially when my nearest one is right next to Wagamamas.

They're totally different, in fact, you'd struggle to pick a worse example.

And actually despite most pubs offering a nicer environment to sit down in, the burgers and chips can be astoundingly low quality.

You forgot to mention the toppings, as many as you want.....

Personalise your burger, dog or sandwich with up to 15 fresh, free toppings.

its a shame they don't do different types of cheese and different sauces (similar to subway for instance) because once you've been a few times pretty much any combination of their ingredients taste the same

Well we'll see how well they do when they open here. I just counted on my way back to my apartment and in the mile there are 2 McDs, 1 BK, 1 SmashBurger, 1 TGI Fridays, 1 Cheesecake Factory, 1 Hardees not to mention a Pizza Hut, Pizza Express, Taco Bell, KFC & god knows what else!!

I can't see Five Guys lasting much longer in the UK.

Now the hype has died down, the queues are long gone. My local branch in Guildford is usually pretty empty (compared with the rammed Nando's across the road).

We went to the London Palladium panto a few weeks ago and every food place in Argyll Street had queues out of the door, except Five Guys, so we ended up there.

Correct!!

That 1 mile stretch I refer to is not even in the city, just a suburb.

The Kuwaiti's only do 2 things for entertainment ....... eat and shop.

Yeah its all down to competition really and I can see 5 guys doing alright in London because £15 isnt a huge amount for such a meal but in a provincial city im not so sure when you can have nearly 3 McD's for the same price. Will be interesting to see which of the branches is the first to close in the UK

we had one in sunderland that recently closed too.

it was in a really odd indoor shopping centre location that meant it was limited to daytime trade, coupled with that the food was absolute crap for the price, it was wetherspoons standard but at least double the money.

I think places like Ed's Diner only work in shopping centres where there are loads of eateries in one boulavard. The type of place where you'll go to whichever TGI, Ed's, Franky & Benny's has the smallest waiting time.

They opened one in my home town and it lasted a year. They closed the shopping precinct's toilets and converted them into Ed's, now who on earth thought that was a good idea? Robbing the locals of a much needed commodity never mind the fact you were eating where the local tramp used to take his morning ablutions.

Ed's Diner is utter carp.

I love Five Guys. I'm staying 2-3 nights a week at Angel at the moment and there's one right by the hotel. Lovely stuff.

There are much better options on Upper Street. The world is your oyster for eating round there

If it's the same Five Guys franchisee they have in Ireland then prepare to have your pants pulled down.

London is expensive but not sure too many places charge £20 for a McDonalds style burger, fries and a drink.
