On the few days a month that I work out of our office in Hanover Building-Site Square, I generally depart Bracknell at zero-dark thirty powered by intravenous espresso, arrive an hour and a half later, and invariably have an hour or so at peak breakfast stomach-rumbling times on my hands before things get busy.

The usual Starbucks coffee and bun just isn't working. I need bacon, eggs, and associated lard...and none of that Mickey D's type malarky.

Obviously, there are numerous establishments in the vicinity of Hanover Square that can provide top-notch lunch-fodder at uber-top-notch prices - and that is a state of affairs I find deeply rewarding - but does anyone know of somewhere where I can get a decent fat-boy sit-down breakfast within reasonable outbound walking / inbound waddling distance?

Garfunkels breakfast is pretty good & good quality, bit expensive though. One close to Oxford Circus.

I commuted from Martins Heron to Hanover Sq for nearly 5 years and never found a greasy spoon cafe that you could sit in.

I liked going to Automat though, near bond st.

When I have my early in the office (only 2 days per week thank god) I try and get a Garfunkels breakfast on at least one of the days. Its never going to win a Michelin * - but so what its a fry up!

If that's the one at Oxford Circus, it's long gone.

Pontis Italian kitchen around the corner (Great Castle St) does a good brekkie though.

Eeek shows how long since I went there, our office is just around the corner. There are various smaller outfits around there.

Cavendish Sq?

Reminds me, No 5 is good, but pricy.

There's a take away place called "Make Mine" on regent St - their "The Gaffer" is a fry-up in a sandwich.
