Which charcoal BBQ?
Discussion
Hi,
I'm after a new BBQ and wanting some advice on which to get! Budget about £150.
Kind of confused with the weber ones other than grill size, anybody shed some light on what each model has to offer?
Also where would be best to buy online? Seems to poor selection locally.
Thanks in advance!

I would go for a barbecue with a lid which will allow you to cook using an indirect method; as well as normal grilling. Indirect grilling basically allows you to cook larger cuts of meat using the barbecue as an oven.

Webber offer good barbecues (kettle variety) for indirect grilling and around your budget.
I bought a stainless kit as part of a brick barbecue I built. I ended up having a lid fabricated for it so I could indirect grill. It was worth it!

I've just bought a Weber Mastertouch this morning, as far as I can tell:
47cm one touch original - the basic model
57cm one touch original - gets a thermometer in the lid
57cm one touch premium - hinged grill so you can add more charcoal and easier system for getting ash out
57cm mastertouch - rail to allow you to fold the lid back, "gourmet grill system" removable center section allows other things to be used (wok, griddle, etc)
The hinged grill and gourmet grill can be added to other BBQ's though

A little over budget - but I am tempted by this one though.

best charcoal bbq, for £150 I'd get 6 of these. Shame you used to be able to pick them up for a tenner.
That kind only let you grill though. Ones with lids allow you do indirect cooking and smoking as well as grilling. Had my first go at that yesterday with some smoked pork loin, and very nice it was too. Much juicier than if I'd grilled it.Loads of inspiration here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
