For anyone in/near Southampton you need to have a look in Bitter Virtue located on Alma Road. They are a small shop with a huge selection of beers typically from UK, Europe and America. They tend to also bring in a few local draught ales which are sold in milk cartons direct from the barrel and the shop staff/owners are happy to provide advice and share their knowledge.

It is truly a hidden gem for any ale drinker but I've since moved from the South. If anyone knows of a similar store in Nottingham then I'd love to know.
Always visit when i'm in Southampton visiting a friend. Great beer shop

Sorry to dig this up, but being new to this I thought it'd make sense not to start a new topic. I just got back from Europe and bought myself some new beer glasses and beers.

Starting my collection, as I already had some large tall plastic ones suitable for pre-freezing and also some small Stella ones.
Excellent effort. cool

This was tonight's encore...

My local Brew Dog had this on draft for a short while but now available via bottle.

Japanese wheat beer. Love it.

Can get that in Waitrose as well. I'm not really a fan of wheat beers (bit flowery for me) but I quite liked that.

I'm the same, used to like wheat beers but gone off them lately but this isn't a bad little beer, nice aroma of citrus.

I'm a fan of Hitachino beers in general though, the espresso stout is great and the red rice amber ales not bad either.

By the way how can I reply to comments as I've only got the option of replying to topics on my page for some reason so I had to copy and paste the above.

Its an IPA from a Swedish brewer called Omnipollo. I'm saving it for Saturday :] Their pale ale i had last week was pretty immense. My local beer shop in Putney gets some really obscure good stuff in. It has a 94 rating on ratebeer redface

From last year's solo motorbike trip to the Arctic circle. No, really.

Jönköping, Sweden - Abro. Cooking lager.

Vaasa, Finland - Lapin Kulta and a Minntu chaser. I'd just been fined €580 for speeding. Not a good night...

Umea, Sweden - Falcon. More cooking lager.

Umea again. Decent pint in a microbrewery/pub.

Mariestad, Sweden - Mariestad. Excellent.

More bike trip goodness.

Copenhagen, Denmark - Tuborg and Dr Nielsen chaser in what must be the cheapest bar in Denmark. About £2.30 a pint.

Copenhagen Jazz Festival - Hancock. I'm still not sure how I came to end up serving behind the bar at this venue. I do know I sustained an unexplained drinking injury (UDI) which later resulted in the loss of a toenail... And one of my top five all time hangovers...

Went to fill the car up and ended up going berserk at the beer shop. Real good mix of hops contained within these Kernels. America and New Zealand galore. Looking forward to the Siren IPA too redface

Just arrived from Beers of Europe beer Thornbridge Bamberg seems to be a new one for this year, interested to try it as I love Schlenkerla helles.

I do have multiples of most of these of course! Other than the Odell beer, I'm collecting some of their bottles and have been after this one a while, lets not mention how much it was wink
