Do you intend to post about anything other than your chilli recipe?
Better than a lot of people who post endless reams of ste on anything and everything.

Back on topic, I like the idea of oven baking rather than stove top. Whenever I try and cook a chili or curry on the hob, even on the lowest setting it ends up burning the sauce onto the bottom of the pan. Will give this recipe a go in a couple of weeks. thumbup

Hi Chris,

How did you get on?

I am down to my last two portions now so I might make a batch this weekend if anyone fancies cooking along with me?

How did it go? Any pics?

I made on this weekend - used 400g of lean pork mince and 400g of chopped pork shoulder for a red-meat free version.

About 120.

You can reheat a portion in a saucepan - or put it in a pyrex in the oven.

How's it looking?

Thanks Robbie smile

It's my first attempt at a chilli and it's looking bloody amazing! I just tastes the sauce before it went in the oven and I can only describe it as darkly flavoured! Really looking forward to it smile

Well it tasted good coming out the oven so I understand it will be even better tomorrow, I did add a couple more finger chillies half way through as it wasn't too hot, next time I might load right up on the chilli.
It does taste good though. Very deep flavour and quite complex. Nice smokey flavour smile

Tbh I could have eaten a load straight away biglaugh

I tried the recipe but for me it was lacking something, a spoonful of cinnamon and it was my best chilli yet, thanks OP, great recipe.

Next time I will try a couple of cinnamon sticks from the start.

Ate mine tonight, really nice deep smokey flavours, I'll put some more chilli in next time though as it wasn't hot enough, although I may be missing the point.

Holy thread resurrection!!

So after a quick search of the forums for the best chilli recipe I came across this. I followed the recipe today replacing mince for qourn mince (veggie better half) and only had 1 can of tomatoes so stuck with that.

Superb everyone had seconds and I loved the smokey flavours, will try the recommendation of cinnamon next time and hopefully tomorrow it tastes even better.

A question though what do most people have this chilli with? I went for it as a bowl meal on its own but not a great fan of rice so up for alternatives.

I layer a bowl with some re-fried beans
thin layer of cheese
fat layer of chilli

nuke it....

add some Jalapenos... scoff using a spoon and/or Nachos.

Chilli without cumin is kinda like garlic bread without garlic. Or bread confused

I like gently warming a pyrex dish of nachos in the oven, then topping it with hot Smokey Cola Chili. It's also nice stirred into penne pasta, or on bread with melted cheese (like a Sloppy Joe)
