Just received two varieties from here. Very quick delivery. I'm awaiting the hopper emptying in my B2C machine to try them out, but I'll post a review when I do.cqueen said:

Don't the suppliers outside London charge p&p, negating any savings?
Nude charge for delivery, as do nearly all online sellers. Even if you do live in London though, collecting in store still works out pricey. For every day stuff Lidl have got lavazza 1kg bags at the moment for £9.99

Google Arabica and Robusta.
That's the main difference between flavours. Cheaper more 'robust' coffee has Robusta in it. That's a bit bitter and has the 'coffee smell' which people like.
Funnily enough, I find Amazon the most convenient. You can get the Taylor's of Harrogate speciality coffee commercial sized 500g bags in boxes of 4 at the price that normal stuff is in Asda.
Also, I happen to know that Taylor's produce Asda's 'Extra Special' range.
It's called Robusta because the plant is more hardy not because of the taste. That's the main difference between flavours. Cheaper more 'robust' coffee has Robusta in it. That's a bit bitter and has the 'coffee smell' which people like.

I'll give that a go with my next batch. The current stuff was stored in an airtight container with a plastic bag clip on the bag itself. Seems to have developed a strange citrus like aftertaste which isn't pleasant to me in the slightest.
I've had a similar taste develop in the past, usually means the machine or grinder needs a clean.Flibble said:

Yup you are right. Stripped the grinder down a few days ago and there was a lot more crud than I expected. A basic toothbrush and hot water worked wonders, will make it a weekly thing. giblet said:

Make sure you give them beans plenty of time to rest, 7days+
Does it really take a week after roasting for the flavour to be at it's best? If that is the case then I'm guessing its better for me to order new beans a week before the current ones finish. Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
