I'm not keen on Global knives, the handles don't sit right in my hand, so on top of the two I've been given (eek) I have a few Lion Sabatiers. The ten inch gets most work to the point that I need to get it reground/replaced as I've sharpened it so much it's got a concave curve on the cutting edge. It is 15+ years old though.

I'm also a fan of the fixed bladed peeler, and have one of the wooden handled ones with orange string that was handed down to me by my Gran 10+ years ago. She probably bought it in the 50's hehe

Appliances, in order of use:

Juicer (Waring)
Coffee Maker (Villaware)
Bread maker (Panasonic)
Ice Cream Maker (Cuisinart)

But best of all the Britannia dual fuel range.

I bought a small deep fat fryer recently. Home made KFC style chicken wraps are much better than KFC restaurant or takeaway food, especially when combined with sweet potato fries lick

We had one but binned it....too fatty. Went for one of those no fat chippy jobs which works surprisingly well.

Agree with this, brought some global knives a few years back with one of the wheel sharpeners and I get a much better edge from the water stones. Do need to have a few cheap knives around to practice on!

I looked at those, but they seem to be more suited for chips and I could not see how I could do a nice piece of battered fish or KFC style chicken in one + there's Banana fritters for dessert, onion rings, breaded mushrooms etc.

Battered Snickers with vanilla ice-cream is a much underrated! biggrin

Nice choice,

Along similar lines, not my best purchase but a joint one, the family allotment.

Induction hob all the way for me and and a pyrolytic oven, only used a couple of times a year but so worth it.

I'm loving my Breville café series citrus juicer. I can get a liter of juice out of 10 normal sized oranges, the skin is completely empty and after a liter of juice there is almost no pulp left over. We use a couple of kilos of oranges a day so a good juicer is essential.

My new bean to cup machine is on the naughty step after giving me a headache for 3 days from experimenting with eSpressos. How do you pronounce it btw, espresso or eXpresso? We have inlaws staying here at the moment and bless my mother in law, she likes to help washing up but always puts things away where she thinks they should go so I'm playing hunt the knife or chopping board.

Hi, I picked up a water stone and haven't quite got round to using it (lack of minerals).

How do you use it? I've got some cheaper knives to practice on smile

Cheers!

Oh crap the OH will kill me if I turn up with that and she finds out the price... It needs to be done and I think it will be my birthday present to myself to justify it.
