It just seems that the portion sizes, and quality, have both reduced in the last few years as the chain has expanded - similar to others.

Make an effort when they start up, build a reputation and then it slides as the economies of scale kick in - a bit like GBK has done as well. I started going to Nando's when it was London only, but given a choice now would probably head elsewhere..

The food is brilliant at my local F&B. I went to The Ivy a week before and thought F&B was better.
I can only comment one the (local) F&B's I have been to, more than once, and it is crap, overpriced crap at that.

How the hell can anything costing a tenner for half a grilled chicken and two side dishes ever be called expensive? Are you people the ones who judge value based on the size of the buffet?

This constant referring to KFC is also hilarious. You pay 3/4 of the price at KFC, and you get carry your own greasy fried chicken to a dirty table where you eat off a tray with your hands, all while being surrounded by the dregs of society...

The working-class crusaders on this forum are hilarious at times.

I kind of get what you are saying but at the same time KFC is more like 1/2 the price and doesn't have a long wait / chaotic ordering system.

You can also get half a grilled chicken (a fat one, with chips etc) in most good pubs for £10 which would be a lot nicer than the Nandos offering in a nicer environment.

I have to agree that Nandos just isn't 'value'.

A friend enjoys the peri peri chicken they do in a pub near us but it's bland as fk to me and doesn't come in a variety of spice levels!

As for "not value", if you get boneless thighs or butterfly chicken you get two sides for about £12 total, it's not dirt cheap but it also isn't expensive considering what it would cost to replicate the meal at home.

Been once. Food was okay but thought it looked like stuff you could buy at farmfoods. Ordering/menu process seemed a lot of faffing about for what is essentially a fast food outlet. I didn't really get what the fuss was about and probably wouldn't rush back.

Personally I'd rather spend a bit more and go to Frankie and Bennys. The food is superb there.
Did you really just say it's superb?
F&B, probably the most overpriced and horrid food I have had the misfortune to eat. I have had better (and hotter) burgers in McDonalds.
There are a few places I refuse to go back to again and F&B's is one of them. How a place can mess up pizza and bbq chicken wings is beyond me. But they managed.

Exactly my sentiments.

Have fond memories as a child going to the Nando's Edgware whenever we went up to London as a family. The food now comes in smaller portions and is much worse quality - real shame.

Nando's was ok in 2004 when it was a novelty. Haven't been for years but the last time I went it seemed to be full of kids/teens and I was left deeply unimpressed with the whole experience. Add to that F&B, TGI Friday, Chiquitos, Pizza Hut and all those other crap places you get on retail parks all over the country. The only notable exception is Pizza Express, who make jolly nice pizzas. GBK is also rather nice, but it's rather expensive for meat and a bread bun. However the strawberry milkshake with malt is heavenly.
