Yes, I know soft drinks, especially Coca Cola will rot your teeth or are the root of all evil and will lead me into morbid obesity. I also don't want to hear how you don't drink anything other than pure glacial melt water poured by virgin's through hollowed out unicorn horns into pure crystal glasses manufactured by some little known glass blower in south east Kurdistan either. This is about 'full fat' soft drinks, specifically Coke Life. Thanks. (other discussion of soft drinks is permitted.

Anyway I tend to avoid normal Coke as I find it actually tastes very little of Cola and all I get from it is a mass of bubbles and overbearing sweetness. That and it's not good for my teeth at all and if I spend a couple of days drinking it it's as if I can feel my teeth slowly dissolving but the Coke life has lower calories and less sugar thanks to a natural sweetener from the Stevia plant which results in 33% less calories than normal coke. Of course it's still not the healthiest drink in the world but I found the not so sweet flavour quite enjoyable. Anyone else tried it?

P.S. I can't drink any of the diet options as Aspartame, well, lets just say it 'goes through me quickly'. And they're not that palatable either.

I can't stand normal red Coke, just too sweet. I can't stand Diet Coke, tastes of chemicals. The caffeine-free Diet Coke wasn't too bad (don't know if you got that one in Europe?).

This greenie one may be what I've been missing.

Haven't tried it yet, had my hands full of shopping. Was surprised to see this new product on the shelves - not seen any advertising etc. It's on offer in Morrisons.

Not even heard of it before this thread, must be a very low-key launch.

same for me when I can find it!

I've not had it, I won't rush out to try it. Coke red, vanilla or cherry for me, thanks.

To be fair i think coke are trying to bring something different to the market place, not sure it will help though since they have lowered the bottle size from 2ltr to 1.75 for the same price, some serious marketing decisions have taken place as they try to regain market share!

33% less calories? So that's 4.6 spoons of sugar instead of 7. Just drink less if it's an issue, seems like McD's doing salads that hardly anyone gets, bit of a marketing poly to pretend to be oh so caring.

Coke "Life" - fk off.

This. They've really pissed me off with this. I don't care whether I buy Coke or Pepsi from Tescos. I'll buy which ever is on offer that week and pay £1 for a 2L bottle. Have done for about 5 years now.

Then coke make their bottles smaller and have thrown me into turmoil because now these bottles are being sold for the £1 at tescos and the Pepsi hasn't been on offer since. I'm confused, I feel I'm being manipulated, I'm finding myself ranting to the kids whilst I stand there trying to work out the cheapest way to buy some kind of coke and not be ripped off because I know I should only be paying £1 for 2L, not 1.75L.

It's so bad that it's forced me to make a special extra trips to Costco where I can buy 8 packs of 2L for about £6, so significantly less than any offer at Tesco.... but I always end up spending at least £100 in Costco on things totally unrelated.

It's a conspiracy I tells ya! smile

It's alright, nothing special. It does taste noticeably different to red Coke, but not hood enough to stop me drinking Diet and Caffeine Free.

hehe Yep.

What I don't get is why a blend of sugar and stevia? The whole point of stevia is that you put it in and drop the sugar altogether, thus reducing the calories to zero. So why didn't they do this?

We have a similar Pepsi product in Aus called Next. I like it but it's getting harder and harder to find.

I like Fentiman's Curiosity Cola but am partial to a diet coke now and then (purely because it's my favourite tasting). Will give this a crack and report back.

I prefer saying "full fat" because:
1) it's like you're taking the piss out of diet versions
2) saying "Coke" is likely to get the barman asking if you want regular or diet
3) "regular" makes me wince.

Agree, full fat coke sounds better.

Our local supermarkets very occasionally have fantastic offers on 24 can packs of a fiver each!

But at the moment, you can buy 2 x 6 pack for £4.

It does seem like they are trying reasonably hard.

I have to say I'm pretty fond of M&S Cola, has a more cola like taste than Coke and the 500ml bottles are also a bit cheaper, but it is no where near as wideley available (for obvious reasons). Out of the Coke products I'd rank them - Vanilla, Original, Zero. Really not a fan of Diet Coke.
