I rate Goodmans over Gaucho and Hawksmoor. However, my favourite is Le Relais De Venise, provided you like their (only) style of serving steak.

Went to Hix in Devonshire Square, very good. Service was competent, good atmosphere and beautifully cooked steak. All good, would recommend it

Almost as much as Hawksmoor, but not quite - influenced by a superb chateaubriant there... ah must be time for a return visit.

Yes, I've been here, is good for a steak. Also Hawksmoor as someone else recommended.

I like Gaucho for steaks as well. There are a few in London, been to them all plus the Richmond branch. My favourite is the one in Swallow Street, off Regent's Street. It's a cool little place with a lovely chilled out bar on the ground floor, and quite funky restaurant rooms above. I always have a nice evening when I go there, and the staff always seem to be really good. Prices not out of this world either. Steaks excellent IMHO.
Hmm, I think Gauchos is pretty poor for steaks. I'm surprised that you rate it after saying you've been to Hawksmoor etc.
Yeah of course, Hawksmoor is the gold standard, I agree. Has always been nothing less than spectacular.

But just suggesting Gaucho as an alternative for the OP. I can see that others have had a so/so experience at Gauchos - but I can only speak as I find, and for me, I cannot complain at all about any of the visits I have made.

Maybe I have just been lucky, but I've had good food, cooked as I requested each time, with really pleasant and friendly staff too.

Mind you....I always treat as I would like to be treated, and am always very friendly, open and polite to restaurant staff. Perhaps they pick up on this and reciprocate?
