I've been to both and also the Fat Duck.

If I was asked which one I would go to it would be the Ledbury. We had the tasting menu and it was superb, everything was done to perfection.

In comparison whilst Dinner was still very good it felt like less of an occasion than the Ledbury and like a previous poster said don't go thinking it is like the Fat Duck.

OP: can I suggest looking at Fera if you're after something high end and a bit different. I'd pick it over Dinner for sure, and it's a more interesting menu than Ledbury.

I'd probably suggest something like The Hinds Head (Heston) or the Hand and Flowers as 'english' food more pub like in ambience and presentation but terrific food. neither are in your specified locations so probably not much use. Some other guys might be able to advise on similar places.

Benares is one of the big names on the Curry side (Atul Kochhar) it's on my to do list.
I'm also a big fan of Murano which is Angela Hartnett's place, it's Italian by its own admission but don't expect piles of pasta!
Both of those are in Buckinghamshire (Marlow and Bray), apologies if I've got the wrong end of hand stick on who you're replying to though!

I've been to both as well as the fat duck and would recommend them all.

You know what. I thought Bucks was somewhere else (without checking) I am therefore an idiot. For Marlow at least.

Bray is in Berkshire though.

Maybe I was drunk/

Cheers!

Just been looking at them, don't really seem my cup of tea...

Went to a local chain on Saturday night and had a decent steak. Can you believe that until I went to Paris in February, I always had my steak well done! Now its Medium, so much nicer! No jus or sauces required!

Come down to Berkhamsted and go to Bluebella Roo's. It's not Michelin-starred, but it'll ease you in to that sort of food without having to spend big, so you can decide if you like it before blowing loads of cash.

Cheers, just down the road is Berko so I'll make a note to check it out.

Next restaurant is the Firecrest in Wendover. Been before and it was decent.
