dont forget the salt and lemon juice.

And make sure the bread is either mega-expensive seedy brown, or cheapest of the cheap chewy white!

And nothing in between?
I quite enjoyed my rolls yesterday.

If we're going for perfection, I'd say one of the above two extremes.

I'm sure your rolls were terrific.

Along with the sacred first principle culinary rule:

  • Everything Is Improved by Having a Fried Egg on Top
there is also

  • Bread and Fish Fingers are Always Delicious.
Pro-tip - lob a few crisps in there at the last minute. An exquisite extra bit of bite.

we had fish fingers for christmas dinner a couple of years ago, as the artisan chicken or whatever from M&S smelt like death when it came out of the package.

Best christmas dinner for years!

cooked in the oven btw

If you ever have that problem with poultry again cut the meat off the carcase and soak it in salt water , the meat will be fine ,it's the carcase that has all the nasty germs then at least you'll have a curry/stir fry from it.
Old trick we did in the butchers shop years ago.

Fish fingers MUST be fried. Preferably in groundnut oil so as not to make them taste of anything but fish finger.

Then five (the only correct number) fingers should be placed between two slices of proper cotton-wool white and lightly buttered bread. A dash of mayonnaise, a little salt and pepper and that's it.

Heavenly,

Another good way is four (the only correct number) in a tortilla wrap with salad of one's own choosing. Yummy.
