Anyone have any recommendations for a decent greasy spoon nr London Bridge, Southwark, The Cut, Waterloo etc? Needs to be open Saturday morning.

One of our number turned his nose up at Table stating you don't get enough food and it's too expensive. The rest disagree but for a quiet life...

Roast has been similarly dismissed, though he gets a bit more sympathy on that one.

I've been to the car and cucumber on Tower Bridge Road a few times. It's a proper greasy spoon. Right on the corner of Druid St. I guess it's ok for what it does. Just watch the tea though. It seems to come out of the pot milky somehow. Either that it the cups are premilked.

Barbarellas on Lower Marsh is very good. Love the Wild Boar sausages.

Terry's Cafe on Great Suffolk Street is also good. But further south in Borough. Well, nearly E&C !

Mamas on Waterloo road opposite the ambulance station was my local for a while. Not as good as the other two, but nice enough.

As an alternative, what about Roast in Borough market. Will be mobbed however.

There's a old style greasy spoon café in Hatfields, at The Cut end. 200m from Southwark tube station.

Thanks guys.

It's looking like Table might be back on the cards. Which suits me. But if not I'll check out some of the above.

That's where they filmed the "tea urn" scene in Layer Cake...

If you're in London Bridge, then surely you should head over to Borough Market - more superb breakfast options and fresh coffee than you can shake a stick at.
