The Best Comfort Sandwich Ever? I Bring You...
Discussion
Well, yes.
I do believe this may be the best comfort food sandwich ever in the existence of mankind. Probably.
It's the marmite and honey sandwich smeared over thick swathes of good butter, itself on a doorstop chunk of fresh white bread. This was my last slice, hence the half n' half. Smeared together after this photo was taken.
Sweet, savoury, satiny, sumptuous, wholesome, filling and just bloody tasty and so wonderful.
I humbly lay the gauntlet down, but please try one before you pass comment...

HAHA Sounds awful but I'll have to give it a try just because.
I had a pot noodle sandwich today. Beef and Tomato pot noodle, white bread lots of butter. Spoon the noodles into the two slices of bread then try and eat it over the pot noodle so as not to get any sauce on my desk.
Mmmmmmmmmm.
Food for a king.

No no no its ALL wrong! The best comfort sandwich in the world is a toasted beans and cheese sandwich. Things to note- use stty white bread, pilgrims choice cheese (grated) and heinz beans. Lurpak the outside of the bread and use a george foreman so you get the golden crispy grill lines across the top. Mmmmmmmm- mmmmmmm.

Jamie Oliver has some good ideas in his 150 minute recipes, make a well in the middle of your other ingredients (cheese ham sundried tomatoes etc etc) and crack an egg. Then toast in a sandwich maker to get a beautifully just runny egg amongst delicous other ingredients!
Mmmm
Ooh that sounds interesting, may well give that a whirl!Mmmm
Oh come on. This isn't so bad. Once tasted, it's pure delight. And I'm serious. Try one.
Now, to make it interesting, one could always add peanut butter to it. This, also, tastes delicious.
My son looked at my sandwich when I was making it and wasn't terribly impressed either. He didn't try it, more fool him.
The secret is to get the butter ratio right. Too little and it's nice, but a trifle flat. That gorgeous creaminess to balance the intenseness of the marmite and the sweetness of the honey needs to be right.
Same with a peanut butter sandwich. A reasonable amount of butter to reduce the stickiness of the spread works wonders.
Clearly, these are rare treats and not for everyday consumption.
Whilst we're discussing the odder combinations, anyone tried strong cheddar and marmalade yet?
Not a sandwich per se..
Fresh baguette sliced in two halves. Loads of lurpack and loads of super crunchy Skippy peanut butter on each one and a big mug of tea.
also agree with the bacon sandwich.
oh and thick fresh white bread, ham, cheese spread and as many cheese dorritos that you can fit in.
In fact..
Too many to list.
