Tried using a newly bought cast iron skillet recently. made all the difference...!
Yup, got one also, never looked back since.

I've been using the Heston Blumenthal 15-second method and it works every time.

I was rather pleased with how this turned out:

Ribeye, and a smoking hot pan...

A quick turn...

Finished with a chunk of dolcelatte...

Popped into Morrison's on the way home last night, couldn't help myself!

By the time I got home it was nearly 9pm, so I thought sod it, steak sandwich it is!

Standard 3 minutes per side gave me this:

And I have to say, this 21 day aged rump steak from Morrison's was nicer and tastier than the rib-eye from the independent butchers I had the other day. Delicious.

Funny you should say that about Morrisons. I bought one of their big rumps last summer when we were camping, to do on the barbecue. It was bloody spectacular.

I agree - I've had them before and they've always been great.

Another vote here.

I use our local butcher in the village but if I do buy meat from the supermarket, I've found Morrisons to be the best.

Found a pic of it. Unfortunately no after shot, was too busy scoffing it down.

The influence of PH on my diet laugh

To continue the Morrisons steak theme...

that was 3 mins each side. Maybe only 2 mins each side next time.

Today is certainly the day to fire up the BBQ in the south east.

Correct! I've just got the bbq out and bought myself two chunky ribeyes.

Just done and eaten a 1kg Porterhouse(for me). Was too hungry for photo taking. Did some Boerewors for the ladies.

Well I'm married, so one of those is unlikely.

I'm best man at a wedding so unless one of the bridemaids is hiding little stove somewhere, nope. Last year the missus at the time went all out for it. Most impressive seeming that I was gallivanting around Laos without her for Valentines Day.

Had to cook my own steak. (Overcooked it too). Guess that means dessert is off as well.

Also posted on the dinner pages...

Char grilled aged ribeye steak with potatoes and a Thai salad. Made a homemade Thai dressing, of lime juice, fish sauce, red finger chillies, garlic, sugar and Thai basil.... Bloody hot, but bloody lovely!

Before

After.

It didn't last long.......

Sirloin steak, cooked to perfection. Followed by something else enjoyable.
