Sirloin steak, cooked to perfection. Followed by something else enjoyable.

I very rarely have steak, but after reading this thread through the week, and having to cook for myself tonight, I decided to go for it.

1/2lb 21-day ribeye from Morrisons, served with hasselback sweet potato, green salad and a spoonful of sundries tomato pesto.

Popped into Morrison's on the way home last night, couldn't help myself!

These are half price at the moment, we had some super thick cuts on Friday for dinner and bought some for the freezer. Gorgeous.

For the 'rare steak' followers, resturant style.

Can't see how that is possibly medium rare.

Difficult one as very much down to personal tastes, but that's closer to raw than rare IMHO. Unless it's the best fillet steak I find most other cuts that are raw to be chewy.

Had a weekend in Stow-on-the-Wold last weekend for my Birthday and stumbled upon https://sites.google.com/site/theoldbutchers/ Have to say, one of the best Ribeyes I have ever had and I have probably had more than I should have. Oysters were also pretty epic.

Raw isnt good. Needs to be at least warmed.

We had an oil fondue not that long ago. Brilliant fun, and everyone got to cook their steak to their own liking. I think cooking should be about the experience as well as the food, and so DIY ticked a lot of boxes.

That's less rare than the rare I had at Goodman's in London last week, but also more rare than what I'd describe as a medium rare.

Bit of blue for the Dads /PeterKay

First time I'd cooked fillet like tha, to try it, and whilst it was nice I do prefer more "steaky" flavour so will revert to rare or medium (depending on cut) in the future.

Mushrooms and cream were lush though!

Tesco prepacked ribeye. Bland, frankly.

From a few days ago... the sirloin for me:

Done (a smidge too far), with potato wedges, mushrooms and fried onions. All looks very brown on the plate, but was tasty:

Prime rib for two, cooked and carved French style in a restaurant in La Plagne for my birthday dinner. It was superb and the wild mushroom sauce served with it was a really intense flavour. Proper man food!
