You literally slap it on. Although wood not coals, it gets hotter apparently. You also need to fan to ash away or it'll be stuck to your steak. The wood also sticks, so have something to turn it and something to knock the wood off.

I believe he means lumpwood charcoal rather than a lump of wood or the briquettes just in case your about to give it a go. smile

steak had the lovely flamed grilled/burnt edges. I need to do this again but with a bigger and better steak.

I think thats £57 total - 1.6kg at £34/kg making each steak about 19 oz.

Still - a few quids worth of steak anyway.
