Been have the five quid Aldi Fillet, season, get the pan so it is searingly hot, 2 mins either side, quick dab on the sides and serve, have had better in restaurants, but not very often and usually costs ten times more.

Most supermarket steak is grim, had a M and S 11 quid fillet and it wasnt any better than the Aldi ones.
Try the aldi roassting beef joiunt I guarentee you will never look back, really good meat at Aldi, well beef.
Will do, cheers for the tip !

A large chunk of ribeye on the bone, medium rare - mouth watering at the thought of it!

The other picture is of a steak tartare, taken in Paris - the company and atmosphere added to it, but it sticks in my head as being an amazing dinner; the chap came out and made it up in front of us too, which was nice to see.

Found some lovely rib of steak on holiday a couple of weeks ago. Used a great, open charcoal BBQ with a solid cast grill. Old school but seriously effective!

So, here's the steak, one rib of beef just seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic

On the grill.

Left it to rest for about 15mins, and then compared against my wife's fillet steak...

And on the plate, cooked medium, with some home made salsa verde and chilli sauce, some garlic roasted fatties and some funny green stuff... Was chuffing lovely!

Waitrose has some lovely bavette at the moment. 3 and a half minutes each side, as my brother and family asked for "well done".

It's called Tiffnes steakhouse in the West end. Was good but think I prefer the butchers shop. Love the entrecote from the Butchershop so it's probably a bit of an unfair comparison.
I've been to Tiffney's and I would recommend it. I had the T-bone and it was delightful. I struggled with the chips as there was just too much.

It's between Great Western Road and Gibson Street, just down from Clatty's, so not the easiest place to find.

I'v never been to the Butcher Shop so I can't compare the two.

That looks so good. I could gladly just eat a huge bowl of them chips!

It's a "refried" jacket potato, skin on cut in to wedges. Worth a try. I just bake a few extra when we have jackets for that reason.

A place called Hutchesons in Glasgow which is the sister restaurant of the Butcher shop. Fantastic meal with a side of smoked haddock croquets and Crab mac and cheese.

This, as an invention, simply must be tried.

So. You bake some extra. Then when cold cut them into chips and then deep fry? Seems like a wonderful idea!
