Morissons have just started selling flat iron, got some yesterday, looking forward to trying it. This is best served sliced?
I must be honest, while I've done it a few times, it's been on the BBQ & served as it comes. I think it might benefit from being slower cooked & sliced, but personally I normally caveman it.web recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/perfect-flat-iron-ste...

What the hell is wrong with you all? Cook your damn meat, at the very least so its dead!
Tried it rare.
It tastes how it looks. Raw meat. I just don't 'get it'!
Medium is clearly better, a fine slither of pink through the middle, job jobbed!
I don't get taking a good cut of meat and cooking it until its leather... waste of good steak and money.Tried it rare.

Feather steak is my favourite, right up until it became known as a good steak, now its in most stores and prices have rocketed.
Jamie oliver is an Ass for telling everyone how good it is.

Hanger (onglet) for me, bags of flavour, tender, and half the price, so you can have steak twice as often.
Me too along with bavette are my current favourite cooked rare with a nice onion and wine jus. You need to slice these cuts against the grain as otherwise can be chewy. Chris Type R said:

Bit more of a chewy texture but only slightly, flavour was great though.
Ive been a rib eye fan boy for as long as i can remember. However, today that changed!
Went to Lidl to do the usual steak sweep and noticed their fillet steaks had £2 off so thought id give them a try instead of the usual rib eye. Im not sure why but ive always thought fillet to be over rated but ive just been proven wrong!
Cooked it as it suggested on the pack (well done 16mins medium heat) no messing and it turned out and tasted absolutely beautiful! Burnt on the outside yet still soft on the inside. Im now a fillet convert!
So withough further a do here's a photo of my first ever home cooked fillet....
