Well be there for 3 days next month.

Looking for recommendations, at the bottom end of the price range but good value, decent portions, the kind of place impoverished locals might go that tourists don't know about. Local food too, kind of like the Ikea cafe but more restauranty.

I am in Stockholm quite a lot these days,

These are a few of the places I eat at:

Restaurants:
Slingerbulten Very nice food - Lunch = about £8-15, Dinner will be closer to £20-30. Excellent local Swedish dishes.

All Star Bar Pretty decent Amercian food - Burgers, Nachos, salads etc.... Free wifi, nice place to hang out and 10% off if you are staying at the hotel above. Expect Dinner to cost £10-20

Cafe:

Panini Internationale Lunch/Snack spot just above the Arlanda Express station - fresh salad/lunch/sandwich with Teas, coffees and crossants. Some of the seats inside have power, so good to sit, eat and charge your mobile & phone. Food is decent as well.

mAx Burger: Is the local burger chain with burgers starting at £1.50 ish. Pretty good - think Mcdonalds type, but a bit cleaner tasting. Big touchscreen ordering points at the larger places, I think they can be in English as well. Makes ordering easy.

Just to add, Slinger Bulten is really good. So good, I had to go again, and will continue to try more of the menu. I cant remember the exact pricing - but they do one of those set lunch menus - salad and a main for something like SEK110 or so.. I have fish goujons and chips. For Dinner the night before, I had the excellent fish soup and ox cheek with the best Mash I have ever had. Again, I can't remember the cost but I think with a drink, it came to around £27-30.

Also, my daughter is a fan of Vapiano, the italian chain. There are 3 of these in Stockholm, and also appear to be good value.

Thanks jazzybee, Slinger Bulten looks like a must visit.

Anyone else with any other suggestions would be welcome.

Bit more expensive than some of the above I think, but Sturehof was recommended to me when I went to Stockholm and the food was top notch. If your budget stretches, I would recommend it.

(Stockholm is not a cheap place).

I like pickled herring. I often buy a jar of it. Roll mops I call them.

There must be a few cheaper places tucked away, surely.

Hotels, Drinks & Taxis are pricey in Stockholm, but restaurants are not too bad... Trams and the underground are pretty reasonable.

Strykjarnet bar and grill was lovely. We went a year ago for a long weekend and fell in love with Stockholm. Found Strykjarnet just wandering around and picked up a card just in case we ever went back.
