I reckon we should eat anything we can catch, or round up. We don't eat much kangaroo, as the fences have to be too high to keep them in, just like deer.

Then you should be careful what you tell the guests, when they don't perhaps have to know.

We were anchored up in the islands one time, when a single handed Pom came in & anchored near us. His yacht looked very well used, & he looked rather lean & hungry. Like some of those people who sail around the world on the cheap. They eat rice with curry paste for dinner, & rice with sugar & powdered milk for dessert.

Taking pity on him we invited him over to share out Turkey stew with us. It must have been a while, by the way he was hoeing into that stew. So much so, that I thought I had better warn him it was game I'd shot that morning.

When I told him to be careful, as he might come across a shotgun pellet in there, he turned bright green, & did not touch another mouthful.

He was gone at first light the next morning, perhaps worried at being contaminated by such primitives.

Like most humans in the UK, then

I think I've seen the film….

Anyway, I do like a bit of game around this time of year, but can anyone explain why game is hung for such long time, whereas many other meats (except beef, I guess?) are not? I know it develops the flavour, but in the end you're a small mouthful away from eating rotten meat?

I guess ideally I shouldn't ask!

And by eating it they effectively recycle it into good meat. If you think about it, cows eat grass that's covered in cow dung, fish eat flies and bugs... I bet you eat beef & fish...

If you look at how Crab Sticks are made.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crab_stick

Surely other proteins of meat and fish could be made in a similar way. Unfortunately things like krill are being hoovered up at such a rate, not much will be left in a number of years.

TBH, there are just too many people living on the planet. Really need to cull 2 or 3 billion.

I simply draw the line at stuff which doesn't taste nice, is illegal or would cost too much (i.e. things that eat meat). Otherwise it's fair game.

I feel sorry for chickens - they're cute but just so tasty.
Try keeping some for a bit. hehe Battery farming's all the nasty little buggers deserve. Seperated from velociraptors only by feathers and the lack of teeth.

Ironically, being easy to catch and kill has actually worked very well for them, in terms of the spread and survival of the species. It's a funny old world.

Not sure I would eat dog but wouldn't begrudge anyone that did.

Anything endangered, other than that if its in good supply I'll give it a go.

more game should be eaten, and more offal, i love a good faggot, (fnarr fnarr).
i worked in namibia for 6 months a couple of years ago and they had so many animals to eat, i had....

springbock
kudu
eland
antilope
zebra
oryx

..that i remember.
they were all tasty.

one thing we should eat more of is veal, it's such a waste to kill the bullocks immediately instead of letting them live for a few months & then eating them.

Well…my Great Dane puppy might have made a good snack but I thought better of it and she was not grilled after all.

Blame the "oh no think of the poor little calves" brigade. So now instead the poor little calves just get wasted rather than go to tasty veal.

I could not eat dog, I must admit, too many thoughts of dear old friends for that.

On the other hand, the domestic cat I'd positively encourage as a food source, if tasty. They need to have a purpose other than crapping in peoples gardens and killing song birds, after all.

Other than that, if its not endangered, and its tasty, whyever not. Down the hatch!
