Fullers tour is a tenner well spent.....
Nowadays you could do a full day's tasting on a Saturday of the independent breweries like The Kernel and Anspatch and Hopday in Bermondsey. I think there are about 6 along the "Beer Mile" open. Not to dismiss Fullers tour. It is good, and the brewery tap is great.

Try The Ten Bells Pub on Commercial Street. They have a good restaurant upstairs but if you don't fancy that St John Bread and Wine is a couple of doors down, Poppies Fish and Chips around the corner in Hanbury Street or Hawksmoor for an excellent steak.
The Ten Bells is said to have been one of the pubs that Jack the Ripper frequented so you could also pick up a walking tour around the area.

This is fairly recent, but it is work checking opening times on each brewery website.

We try and do GBBF every year and this could be a nice additional day out.
Borough Market is a good shout, some great pubs around there and amazing food stalls. Great for a Sunday brunch.
For something different, a bit of a bohemian cocktail bar/cafe with good bar snacks is Freud http://freud.eu/cafe-bars/ . These a proper cocktails made from fresh ingredients by skilled bar staff, worth a visit.

You have to love the marketing....they don't know who he was but know which pub he frequented! When I worked on Bishopsgate ten years ago the Ten Bells was a old fashioned "pound in the pint jug" strippers pub.
