Aerocino is better.
What makes you say the aeroccino better? I have a latissima and love the simplicity of just getting the milk tank from the fridge, plugging it in and pressing one button for a latte. Only complaint I have is that it makes quite a lot of foam even on its lowest setting.QROPS said:
If you hold down the button to reprogram, then basically you are over extracting the coffee and you can end up with a burnt taste and the chance of blocking your pyramid plate.
True, that is possible but you can't say that for certain on every coffee pod. Coffin doger has said this is what he iscalready doing by pressing the button twice so I was just offering an alternative. We've been running a Tassimo for a few months and we are enjoying it.
The coffee is not as good as freshly ground stuff in a moka pot, sure; I think it's strength is more the cappuccino / latte type drinks, which do taste good, and are convenient to make.
The Costa branded espresso is, to me, pretty similar to what you do get in Costa, safe, middle of the road stuff.
Not particularly cheap though (latte is about 60p) and I've never seen generics, but there are usually offers on t-discs if you spend >£40

The foam is caused from the protein content in the milk, try something with less fat content.
Are you sure on that? The opposite is true, skimmed milk contains marginally more protein than whole milk and milk with less fat content produces more foam. sirbadger said:

Read this thread with interest as wife wants a machine for Crimbo and looks like a Nespresso might be the way to go after this thread. Question is which one as a quick check on price runner throws up lots of models. She mostly drinks black coffee or soya lattes if that makes a difference. (Sorry know nowt about coffee as I hate the stuff!!)

Anything but a U machine.neil-c said:
Are the nespresso models all much the same then? Are you just paying a pit more for style or a perceived upmarket brand?
Must admit I'm not sure about the differences; I want one that can produce a nice black espresso or coffee, once or twice a day, I don't need anything with a milk frother as I only drink black and it is only myself in the household that drinks coffee, the non milk frother ones seem to range from £90 up to around £150 and yet, apart from the way that they look I can't quite work out the differences. As for the reliability of 'U' models. We have two. One of them started playing up after year and a half of daily use, Nespresso organized collection and loan machine. When it came back it worked fine for about two weeks, then broke again. Nespresso appologized, advised that brand new machine is on the way, and just to bin the old one.
Perfect service.
Perfect service.

May as well whinge about my first world problems here. Bought a Nespresso from JL with their black friday winter promo - just got round to uploading my purchase receipt. They say it takes FOUR WEEKS to validate and get my £75 of vouchers. FOUR WEEKS FFS!
Gah.
You don't get vouchers, you get credits to your account, ours took less than a week.Gah.
