I will get flamed, but I can cope with the abuse.

Please Coca-Cola tell me why you decided to ruin Dr Pepper with the 'New Improved' recipe of artificial sweeteners alongside the sugar for some arbitrary calorie saving.

I drink sugary caffeinated drinks as a treat - I don't need you poisoning them with horrid aftertastes and post consumption gastric distress.

You might as well go the whole hog and ruin Coke too, then I can just drink Pepsi 100% of the time.

Oh dear, that's one off the list for me then.

You have to keep a close eye on the ingredients list when trying to buy decent unadulterated lemonade and tonic for the same reason.

Its like pot noodles - 50% less salt. Yes, and 50% less taste.

I am under no illusion when i buy a pot noodle. I am not expecting any nutritional value and fully accept there should be enough MSG & salt to put me in an early grave but thats a risk i take when i eat dirty food.

Upshot: Make pot noodle, pour 5g of salt in, stir, let rest for 5 minutes, stir again and you have old school goodness smile

I'm so glad you've said this. Dr Pepper was a bit of a treat for me and they've ruined the flavour. They say it's for health benefits and they have also conducted taste tests, which went very well apparently!

What are the odds it's down to the cost? frown

Sweetners are cheaper than sugar, but fizzy soft drink makers are currently sh*tting it about losing a younger generation to water and other healthier drinks.

But they already have Diet and Zero brands...which are using artificial sweeteners only, why ruin the sugar version ?

^This.

At least give consumers the choice. Now it's no sugar or half sugar.

Those concerned with health and want to drink water won't be interested in anything else.

Yup. I noticed a little while back that on the pack of Sugar Puffs the word "sugar" has got smaller and smaller over time. And above it the words "Honey Monster" have got bigger.

Then the other day I read that they are changing the name to Honey Monster Puffs.

Seems that sugar is the new fat...

Tbf massive intake of sugar is the curse of the West. Strange to take the decision to eat / drink sugar or not away from the adult population though spin

Cost - pure and simple. Diet and Zero do the health job. Full sugar costs about 20p per 2l bottle versus sugars free, and they're now stripping cost out of the Regular version.....

Is it even sugar they're getting rid of; I thought a lot of these were high fructose corn syrup, thanks to insane US federal farm subsidies?

Not in the UK.... At least the sugar is sugar here.

Dr P was the only fizzy drink that I'd drink as a rare treat but not now I've seen this.

Lilt has contained artificial sweetener for as long as I can remember. Fanta may have only recently gone part sweeter.

Seems Coca-Cola are on the charm offensive:
