Had some Reindeer fillet this evening, nice but much milder flavour than Red or Roe deer. I think Foal has to be my favourite meat, closely followed by Kudu. Minke Whale was nice but not really sure about the ethics of that one.
Wouldn't really bother with Puffin or Ostrich again though.

So what is your favorite unusual (in the UK) meat?

Venison is a favourite, I once tried donkey salami (no not that bit) but that was grim frown

I'm a game lover.

Roe deer 'pluck' - the heart and liver is - tender and delicious. Only edged out by the English grey-legged partridge.

Noms.

I've eaten kangaroo, emu, crocodile, donkey, bear, etc, and can quite see why these go for dog meat.

Crocodile - absolutely delicious - first tasted BBQ'd on the banks of the Zambezi - just very difficult to get here in the UK unfortunately.

Kangaroo, to me the best meat ever as long as it is cooked right, as in rare.

The most exotic I've had is crocodile or alligator, I can't remember which one it was as it was many years ago, I do remember though that it tasted a bit like pork.

Reindeer meat is absolutely delicious. Tucked into several times in several different forms in Lapland last year. A big juicy Reindeer steak is a marvelous thing.

I had a zebra steak at Shaka Zulu in London. Tip - never ever order it. It's tough and pretty tasteless. Seemed a good idea at the time.

Semi-fermented shark in Iceland(country not supermarket)

Smelt like blue cheese, felt like sweaty rubber to chew, tasted like rotting fish.

What did I expect?!

Whale blubber on the other hand was just like the jelly you get in pork pies, but sour.

Here in France, you can get a very nice carpacco of horse meat. It is very lean and tasty, served with Parmisan cheese and olive oil.

It is so odd that the UK cannot cope with this, yet love venison, kangaroo etc etc.

I tend to follow the herbivore rule when it comes to flavour: If an animal is a carnivore, it's most likely going to taste like ass. I suspect Panda would be delicious.

Iceland Food Warehouse opened near me, they have, Buffalo, Ostrich, Crocodile, Kangaroo, Wild Boar, as steaks, burgers sausages or meatballs, and a few different ready meal curries. They do snails and fish stuff too. I got a few things but not tried any yet.
