I'm watching the Nutribullet on Ideal World and find myself tempted to get on - it seems to do what it says on the tin and I'm simply no good at eating fruit and veg other than with a meal.

Anyone got one and is there any catch? The online reviews seem overwhelmingly positive.

We have one and it does do a good job of dicing everything up....

However, I personally prefer to eat my fruit and vegetables than drink them.... but apart from that it works very well and is an affordable option if you want to make health drinks.

The wife has suggested we buy one, which is great as I'm a fan of a fruit/veg smoothly and could do with upping my five a day (or probably more like 2!) but Incan't help but think they are a marketing triumph, over a far less expensive, big standard blender.

I was of the exact same mindset !!
A glorified blender with an exceptional marketing budget/team.
However, I have now changed my mind !
It blitzes everything down to a smoothy - fruit, veg and even almonds, something my blender couldn't do. The other claims it makes I cannot confirm or deny but I didn't eat much fruit and now I do. If I want a smoothy I want just that and not something with unblended lumps in. With the nutribullet it's really smooth and I've lost weight. It certainly encourages me to take my 5 a day.

We got one last year... its one of few things of this sort which we actually still use after a few months.

It's so easy to clean its easier than eating the fruit fresh. It's surprisingly versatile and we keep finding new uses for it.

- Spinach, strawberries, frozen berries, multi seeds, raisins and water - nice sort of health drink thingy
- Vanilla ice cream, choco chip cookies and some choc syrup
- Strawberries, natural yogurt and a dollop of strawberry jam - delicious smoothy kind of thing
- Mrs AOK uses it at some point in the cooking process to make a deliciously thick green pea soup
- I also use it for frozen margarita's + daiquiris
- You can crush ice, although after my first failed attempt i learned the trick is to add a bit of water to help the process. The ice cubes also sharpen the blades... i use this as an excuse to make margarita's

Completely off topic, but I thought I'd ask you the question. It's not a pisstake, a genuine question to understand the reasoning behind it.

Why do you find that you put an apostrophe within the plural of a word ending in 'a', but not in a word ending in 'i'?

Interesting you pick me up on that!

Unsure of how to spell either, I had originally written the following:

AOK's intentions said:
- I also use it for frozen margheritas and daquiris
And then my spell checker on this computer suggested those two spelling (and punctuation) changes... which I went with, without putting much thought into whether they are right or not!

I imagine neither should have an apostrophe?

That's the main reason I like ours, quick slosh under the tap is usually all the cleaning it needs, paying for convenience really and I'm happy to do that personally !

Correct. I'm not being a grammar nazi (this time), I'm genuinely interested how people come to the conclusion of whether to include it or not.

Thanks for the honest response.

As for the Margherita/Magarita spelling, the first is a pizza, the second is a cocktail!

My mother bought one and is pleased as punch telling others about her new "bullet".

I die a little more inside every time.

If you like the idea but don't want to drop 90 large on one, check out the Breville active blend machine.
24 quid delivered from Amazon, it's comes with two sports bottles and caps that you blend in then drink from, cutting down on waste. It's only 300 w, so is a little slower than the mighty bullet, but does an ace job of fruit, nuts, seeds, protein powders, vitamin tablets, you name it.
Works better if the bottle is pretty full, rather than half full, but it doesn't need to be full,

Based on the fact you get two nice sports drink bottles and the blender kit, all for 24 quid on your doorstep, mines been a proper bargain. I've used it at least once a day for a month now, and im still loving it.

I have another traditional blender for tougher larger jibs, but clean up is so easy with the Active Blend. It's a no brainer

There's several companies on eBay selling the Nutribullet fro around £65, as long as you don't want the original box and cookbook.

i use this for 18 quid which sounds similar to the breville mentioned above:
http://www.tesco.com/direct/morphy-richards-48415-...

can crush ice and make decent smoothies from frozen fruit.
Its not as powerful as the bullet but personally i prefer some slight texture rather than completely liquidised.
Not sure i can stomach £80+ for a blender

Can you put in frozen fruit and blitz that in the NutriBullet?

I've got a nutrininja, it's their rival and comes with 900w of power!

I think it's superb. The most I've thrown at it is linseeds, ice & frozen blueberries. It has absolutely no issue with all of these, just throw it in and give it a quick blast. Much quicker and less washing up as you just put a lid on the jug!
