Decent eating in Manchester?

yea i didn't include it. It is swanky and it's nice place to have a cocktail where you get looked after rather than stand like a tit 5 deep at the bar like in some places, but i'm not sure about the eating fare.
According to confidentials this is the 'hot 50' in greater manchester
https://confidentials.com/manchester/manchesters-t...
it's a paid for site tho so pinch of salt so to speak...

look into the sparrows, ate there recently and was super impressed - from the outside you'll be thinking what is this? but it's actually really nice inside!

"50 restaurants owned by people who haven't called Gordo a . Yet."
i mean he is a yes, and i have had twitter spats with him in the past... and i do object to the idea that one private organisation feels it owns the definitive manchester guide type thing... however what else is there to go off of? i wouldn't just want to be trawling the michelin guide for places to eat as I don't really want fine dining every time I go out, and neither does just about anyone in Manchester I imagine. I don't fully agree that Confidentials should be entirely rejected. You have to use some local knowledge and sense, and other sources. I tend to watch the 'new openings' quite closely.
Escape to Freight Island is actually pretty good. There are lots of food options there, all pretty good. It's a stload better than Baltic Market in lpool but is on the same spectrum i suppose. You can't really compare and outdoor/indoor event with music and food and drink to a post restaurant, but each have their place.

I'm not keen on him but I do respect his opinion to some extent and take note of itEscape to Freight Island is actually pretty good. There are lots of food options there, all pretty good. I've been to freight island loads of times as my friend is involved it in, for beers then a bite to eat in summer it's okay (aside from the insane waiting times for a drink) but for a destination to eat not so much
'The French' in Manchester has just won an award, it is located inside The Midland hotel.

Rudys seems to be expanding everywhere.
Sale, now Chorlton is opening soon.
I'm not complaining but as with all expansions quality will dive.
yes indeed they're utter crap now which is a massive shame. Sale, now Chorlton is opening soon.

the ancoats one is still alright I think but absolutely not what it used to be, it's disspointing how they rarely have new specials etc too - I live 100m away from it and it's easy to get bored when you've had so many of the same ones! The Ancoats branch historically was good but its no more.
imo ciaoo is much better and has more interesting pizzas (but not silly, crazy pedros style) etc
