Philips Perfect draft machine
Discussion
Beerhawk have started selling Perfect Draft online:
https://www.beerhawk.co.uk/search/go?af=pagetype%3...
I think these prices are the price you pay for keg and beer (ie no deposit) but I might be mistaken.

Hi folks, I've started a Facebook page to try and help us all source reasonable kegs here in the UK and abroad. It's on facebook and called perfect draft keg tips. Please feel free to join, it's a brand new page so will take a few days to get my head around.
Cheers,
Neil

EEK! I generally pay €15-25 per keg, plus a €5 deposit, £30 is almost twice the cost. But if Leffe, at least no ferry crossing, shame its a small selectionhttps://www.beerhawk.co.uk/search/go?af=pagetype%3...

I think the £25 includes the deposit…but it’s still €18 (plus €5 deposit) versus £25. I expect much of the difference is supply / demand and duty and wouldn’t be surprised if the margin was worse for sales made in the UK when these factors are accounted for.I have always found it quite handy that I have to go to France to get the kegs as Domestic Compliance is not overly keen on part of the kitchen counter being taken up with the machine and the kegs, well, don’t last long once opened.
I think the longest one has lasted was 4 days because I was out a bit so it’s probably for the best I can’t find them too often! I used to live in Jersey where they were freely available and I can confirm that Leffe on Monday is not a good thing for the Tuesday…
at the end of the day, the extra cost saves on the crossing etc. And if it wanted t get some Leffe for a bbq/event. That works. Supply and demand, most in the UK know of LEffe/Becks etc, so there is a supply. But it's hard to get in Jupiler (my preference) or any of the other "unknown" beers .
I definately won't be shunning the site, but I have 10 empty kegs in the garage to get refilled in Belgium...

I like Leffe (more than it likes me...) and the occasional Hoegaarden but Jupiler is my choice to keep in it most of the time.
Might need a weekend away in Le Touquet soon!

For those who are interested, there's just been a 25% price drop on Amazon , £150 delivered from Beerhawk. But Beerhawk haven't changed the price on their own website (yet).
1 left in stock! For Perfect Draft owners, I recommend Diekirch beer from Luxembourg, if you can get it. It's from the town of the same name.
Just bought a perfect draft machine. I've been going to Belgium a lot recently and have been really enjoying Jupiler. Beerhawk is the obvious choice for UK delivery but it doesn't stock Jupiler. After a long search for European vendors that'll ship to the UK I found this:
http://www.biertap.com/
I just bought 3 kegs of Jupiler for €64 (including delivery). They were €16 each with an additional €16 postage charge per 3 kegs ordered! Everything was in dutch but I managed to navigate through the site pretty easily. Bargain! (..?)
Fortunately I don't need these beers until around christmas time so there's plenty of time to find out how long it takes them to deliver it!

First order was made by Mrs EJH with Beerhawk; apparently I'm grouchy without draft beer in the home to maintain my "delicate," physique...
Anyway, order made on Friday and delivered on Monday. £25 a keg with £5 returned on each one (the courier will, it seems, pick these up when they deliver; I'll test this with the next order).
Yes, it's more than a trip to France (although I always ignore the cost of the tunnel in the man-maths) but it works well and they were lovely to deal with. Spectacularly long dates on the kegs too (on hols at the moment but think it was ~7 months instead of the usual 2-4 that I have seen when shopping for them elsewhere).

I'm very close to ordering one, especially with the deals that are on just now. I'm just not sure how much I'd actually use it!
How long does the beer keep once opened?
How long do the kegs keep roughly? (Unopened)
They're meant to last up to 30 days once opened. I think the longest I have seen one last is 6 days when I went away for the weekend in the middle; you also find friends visit more with these machines! How long does the beer keep once opened?

I have a very cheerful rut with mine (when I have beer in) which involves a frozen 1/2 pint chalice in the back garden when I'm back from work and then another frozen 1/2 pint chalice chaser. There's something wonderful about smaller glasses of beer that are very, very cold.
The barrels have a best-before date printed on the side; I think my latest batch are bb June but I have consumed previous batches at 3-4 months beyond bb dates and they have still be absolutely fine.
