I found a great Roaster in Guildford. Just before Xmas, I ran out of beans and was looking for a roaster that I could collect a kilo from in a hurry. They opened for me to collect, and I have become a "customer for life"

Very friendly!

Here is a picture of my home setup, I do get a lot of stick for it sadly!

Rocket? Looks very similar to mine.

Well, I took the plunge, literally and bought an AeroPress as the first step into coffee making. I'm starting with Costa Rica San Rafael Tarrazu as the everyday drink, and Sumatra Mandheling as the morning rocket fuel.

Do you use it upside down? It only makes sense that way to me.

Only bought it an hour ago! I'll come back to you on the subject.

Look it upon youtube. It makes much more sense.

Agree with upside down, filling it on the mug and then putting the plunger in makes no sense.

Ironically I bought a couple of the Starbucks (in-house) Venti white mugs and the aeropress is too small to sit on top of the mugs. Oops!

That's a sign for you: have nothing to do with Starbucks.

Another vote for the inverted method. For the money the Aeropress can't be beaten.

I agree, but it's not espresso. I use mine for travel, but I bought it to cover me when my espresso machine had to go off for repair.

On the subject of Aeropresses and narrow mugs... I realised after several months that you can put the funnel on top of the mug and then the Aeropress on top of that.

True, I drink Americanos with a splash milk and it does the job for that. Also works for lattes with the milk frothed in a small cafetiere.

Yes it is a Rocket R58, its been the best money I have spent for coffee. Although I did get the itch to upgrade it to something like the KVDW Speedster or a La Marzocco GS3

I like my Aeropress, but don't use it often as I should. I prefer proper espresso, or cafe allonge/lungo (or whatever the trendy crowd calls it) which is just a longer poured espresso.

Not wanting to lower the tone but doing so anyway...

Since I've been cutting down on food I've been drinking far, far, far too much coffee. Today I think I visited the little boys room and coffee came back out.

Must cut down on coffee.

Had mine for about five years now. It went wrong once, but with regular cleaning, it just keeps going. I can't see any justification for an upgrade.

We often glug down an '8' cup Cafetiere between two in our office, which definitely goes straight through sometimes...

I've had 7 cups today as well, trying to keep hunger at bay. Definitely feeling the rumble.

I need to get a hold on this!

I love the OP's enthusiasm and home set up, and I'd love to have something similar.

However, I just can't be bothered when at home! Maybe when the kids are older and I wake up refreshed rather than tired I'll get into it.

But for now, 2 spoonfuls of instant is as luxurious as I get at home!!!
