Decided I’m going to save myself £350ish a year and buy non Nespresso pods.

The Lidl ones seem ok but d’Or also very good.
Wife drinks these, according to our Amazon history she's got through 1100 so far eek 12p per pod.

Yep, those are okay and good value.

I've given up caffeine, does anyone know of a good Nespresso decaf?

Wife drinks the Starbucks ones, she likes them. YMMV.

Thanks, I have tried these and they are pretty good. Definitely better actually than the awful coffee they do in their retail outlets!

Looks like Yankee Bundles is no more, which is a shame as their Starbucks deals were great value.

I had a couple of emails to say they were selling everything off while they revamp the website so hopefully they will be back. I'm out of Starbucks Blonde so I'm hoping it won't be long.

That’s a shame hope they’re back soon, I’ve been kept in cheap (almost out of date) Nespresso since finding this thread!

I just came here to post the same thing; I've ordered 240 pods for £40, so 16.6p a pod which is really good value (compared to 39p for Nespresso). I just wish I could convince my wife to convert.

I'm not a big coffee drinker at all, but I enjoy a coffee from the Nespresso machine at work from time to time. I warm a quarter of a mug of milk in the microwave first, which also warms the mug, then put it straight under the Nespresso machine.

I suppose that's a sort of upside down flat white. I appreciate this isn't the right way to make a good coffee, but it's the least faff. We have a milk frother, but it always looks grimy so I don't use it.

I'm thinking about getting a machine for home. I won't use it a great deal, so it's not worth getting an expensive one. The Vertuo and Tassimo pods seem a bit expensive as you have to use the branded pods.

Not sure if I should get a Dolce Gusto or a Nespresso? I was in Lidl today and I see they sell compatible pods for both machines, which seem reasonably priced. Dolce Gusto pods look a bit bigger and they have cappuccino and latte pods, so perhaps that is a better option for someone like me, who doesn't drink pure espresso?

Dolce Gusto tastes like industrial effluent.

Nespresso tastes like coffee.

It’s your choice wink

Before I got my current machine I did mine the same way; 3/4 mug of milk in the microwave until it was just about bubbling round the edges, dump a capsule in, stir thumbup

Yes I've looked at a few websites this morning and they have all said Nespresso tastes better.

Small pod Nespresso machines start at £90 compared to Dolce Gusto at £30. The difference in spec in spec appears to be the DG has 15 bar of pressure and the Nespresso has 19 bar.

I'm curious as to what makes Nespresso taste better. Is it the brewing process or the type of coffee in the capsules? You can buy for example, Starbucks espresso pods in either format, but would they taste different?

You can buy pod adapters to make a DG take a Nespresso pod. Aldi also sell a coffee machine for £90 that can take both types of pod, however it only runs at 15 bar.

We popped into Hotel Choclate retail outlet in Gloucester this week. Boxes of 60 pods to suit Nespresso were £5.98. Got 4 varieties and very nice. We switched to Lidl pods a long time ago. I think you like the coffee you get used to….or maybe that’s just me.

If you want to try a machine look on Gumtree to see if there are any for sale local to you. I picked up a Nespresso Inissia for £15 last week & there are lots of Vertuo machines for sale as people have found they are expensive to run.

They were selling them for that price at my local Hotel Choclate factory outlet as short dated stock.

I bought a couple of packs, but frankly didn’t think the taste was great and they didn’t work particularly well in my machine either.

I bought a Nespresso Vertuo and it didn’t suit how I like my coffee so went back to the original pods.

I have 50x assorted Vertuo pods and wondered if anybody would like them in exchange for a small donation to Alzheimer’s Research UK?

Quite enjoyed all 3 varieties so far. I like a Latte and the wife has taken to using Oat, Coconut and Almond milk of late.
