Looks like Nespresso are trying to push people into either the expensive standard capsule model or Vertuo Nespresso only machines.
I think we'll see a slow down in Nespresso sales going forward - the price of the Nespresso capsules is quite high and it's an easy thing to drop from a weekly budget.

I no longer buy them. Just as good alternatives now out there at less than half the price.

I want to get a new machine for my mum for mothers day. I can't decide whether to go with the new bigger pods or the classic. I know the pros and cons but which do you guys recommend?

The Vertuo pods are quite expensive - 60 to 70p per shot as a minimum & there are no suppliers other than Nespresso. I think a lot of people find them expensive to run, but they do makea bigger cup than the original pods.

From my post in this thread on Friday

https://lacapsuleria.com/en/compatible-capsules-ne...

Best trying this special offer first https://lacapsuleria.com/en/compatible-capsules-co...

Excellent selection and really nice coffee. They come from Italy but take less than a week to be delivered.

Also look out for Starbucks (made by Nespresso) ones on Discount Dragon

Discount Dragon haven’t had Starbucks pods for a while unfortunately (apart from a christmas blend) so I’m back on Jo and the Juice pods; I’ve ordered them before and wasn’t massively impressed although they have grown on me. I have a pod with hot water and cold milk, so I’m not an aficionado.

Here is my latest delivery; not bad for £35!

So we have just purchased a vertuo machine, mainly because we wanted the orange machine to match the caravan …. But it looks like I need to order pods online as nobody sticks them. Or should I cut my losses and buy something else.

Just order online or call in to a Nespresso store?

Yup - I normally get my pods within just 1-2 days of ordering. The lack of third parties is the one downside to the vertuo for me as I drink mug sized coffees, so with my classic I ended up just with variations on an Americano, also I got fed up with incosistency in which 3rd party pods worked and which did not - and I mean enough water flow, not taste.

I've got through most of the sample pods from La Capsuleria & while most of them weren't to my taste there were a couple I liked so I worked out the price. If your order is over €50 you get free delivery & a €5 discount so I'm getting 200 pods for about 22p a pod delivered. It's not as good as the Discount Dragon Starbuck price but they don't have any at the moment & I don't really like the Joe & the Juice ones even if they are only 15p a go.

I liked the alto size but it’s been killed off.
I have no problem with using official pods, I prefer the quality control and consistency.

I'm a convert to https://www.lorespresso.com/en_gb/espresso-ultimo-... and at less than £28 for 10, you can add a single pack for £3.50 and for less than £32 you can get 110 pods, including delivery.

Theyare not "quite" as good as my previous Nespresso capsule https://www.nespresso.com/uk/en/order/capsules/ori... that I used to use, but with a teenage son in the house, drinking as much coffee as me, I found we were getting through 150 capsules per month.

The Nespresso were £50 for the month, whereas L'or are £30.

I know it's only £20, but its the principle, in the last 18 monht I saw the Nesspresso pack of pods go from £3 to £4.40 in around 6 months.

Just bought a Vertuo Plus

I presume these wont work in it?

https://discountdragon.co.uk/product/official-120-...

Any ideas of anywhere to get cheap pods if not?

No, they are for the Nespresso Professional machine not the Vertuo. There are three types of pods/capsules Pro, Original & Vertuo as you can see here:
https://www.nespresso.com/pro/uk/en/order/capsules...

Only Nespresso sell the Vertuo capsules so you're stuck with their pricing.

I’m sort of confused why so many people on here have bought a Nespresso machine but spend time trying to not buy Nespresso

I’m a little confused why your confused.

Have you tried the alternatives? When i had an original machine a few years back I preferred some of the other makes more but found the capsule set up an easy solution for good quick coffee. Often there is a price advantage as well.
