Won't that send too much water through the pod? Hmmmm. My technique is use the right button to dispense what is just less than half a cup, then dispense the pod, then right button again to fill cup with water. Hey presto, americano.
Thats what I do.

Also, the Aldi pods are very good at the mo

My machine has broken (again).
First time 18 months in, got a warranty repair, now again almost 2 years after that its gone again, exactly the same fault.

Gets used almost every day between 3 and 5 times.

Is this typical or have I been unlucky?

Sounds unlucky to me.

We joke on a Sunday Morning that they wouldnt ever fix ours as "Im sorry Sir, but this machine simply is not meant for industrial use..." wink

Krups citiz, without milk.
It's not giving me a full measure, I've done a reset and tried adjusting the amount it dispenses and no change.

So far I have found non Nespresso capsules to be rather poor and prone to leaking however I have tried L'or ones today and they are aluminium just like Nespresso. Rather nice too

Sounds a bit unlucky, our original Magimix* must be 12 or 13 years old now and is still going strong with just the occasional descale.

*I know they're all made in the same factory, or at least used to be, and it's just branding

Do you live in a hard water area? It could be a build up of lime scale. There's plenty of guides online, here's one

I have. The lighter, citrus hitning one (can't remember names) was nice using one capsule, but too forced/strong following the guidance for 2. The stronger one was the other way round. Wouldn't consider either a must or a repeat, but neither is bad. Despite normally prfering stronger coffee, the lighter one more suits me.

Hope I'm not breaking any forum rules... but does anyone know of a decent place to resell nespresso pods other than the usual route of ebay? I bought a lattissima machine a couple of years back, but I haven't used it in months, and I have a tonne of pods taking up cupboard space that I won't drink and would prefer to not just bin in another few months time

Is there any way of making Long Black/Americano's directly from a Nespresso, or do you have to just put in hot water separately?

I like a bigger cup of coffee, rather than just an Espresso. It's the only thing that is holding me back from getting one.
The newish expert machine has a americano setting and if you like a gadget it has bluetooth so you can remotely brew or even set a timer.

Catering company at work just installed a massive commerical Nespresso machine in the coffee lounge. It's €0.50/capsule.
They wish they'd installed it sooner! €€€€€€€€€€€€€€

We have the commercial ones at work, but luckily we don't have to pay for it. At €0.50 per pod they're making a tidy profit there, and annoyingly it's hard to buy the commercial capsules - they normally come from an office supplies company and only in boxes of 50. I think in Switzerland you can only get them from Lyreco.

We've got one at work (with free capsules!). But there seems to be a lot less choice of capsules (we can either have a "green one" or a "brown one" - both taste pretty similar). And the machine always needs resetting/milk nozzle cleaning/engineer callout.

We've got a small Nespresso with normal capsules as a backup.

In our regional offices, where they don't have a staff restaurant, parking, free gym, etc., the pods are free. wink
Since we have those other benefits, I really don't mind paying €0.50 per pod. Seems hundreds of others don't mind either. smile

FWIW - there are 13 different Nespresso Pro capsules:

After a few years of trying, I've actually found some pods better tasting than any of the oem ones. These things taste as good as good coffee shop coffee (and I don't mean chain crap). Not as strong but with that lovely fruity not over-roasted taste.

It's called Roastworks and Waitrose sell it. Downside is it works out at 45p a pod so half as much again as the original pods but well worth it. Cheaper if you buy by the 100
