My parents have an old Kenwood machine that doesn't cut the bread into triangles... love toasted egg sandwiches. If you cook them just right you still get a runny yoke
This, but with beans in as well is a staple round these parts.

Back during Uni days, flatmates used to have oyster and cheese. My favourite was baked beans and cheese.

any suggestions for a good quality toastie maker please. tried a few before and they all seem really poor quality - within a few uses the non stick coating is coming off etc (no - not user error wink )

deep fill would be an advantage smile

thanks

Also, the George Foreman is great for making a toasted sandwich.

thumbup - cheers. i would rather pay more and get one that will last years, than a cheaper, crappy one every year or so.

plus, i've been very impressed with the waring blender i got about 10 years ago. plenty of use and still like new.

Got my breville in 1985. I have used it once or twice a week ever since. NEVER cleaned it though.

Anyway. The two crusts, Ham, a little Stilton, some brie, and some cheddar are all it needs to make me feel like a God. The Breville God.

Do they do a version where it doesn't cut the bread into triangles?

Yes, the one I had was just two flat grills that closed together.

This one?

The only other one they do seems to be a triangle job.

A toastie maker should "cut" into triangles!

Turn halfway through cooking to have proper toasties smile
Leaking filling, lack of proper sealing & burnt fingers add to authenticity!

Cheese and branston pickle is my favourite. Keema ( curried minced lamb) with homemade mint chutney. Might have to have some tomorrow
I have the keema one lick How much oil does your Mrs use in the keema? In the "perfect keema toastie" it soaks into the bread so you effectively get a fried bread keema toastie biggrin

Two delicious triangles of Insta-heart attack

No way! I like to put egg in mine! Full size toasties are the way forward (or backwards as my parents had a kenwood toastie maker would do this in the 80s!)
