I'm after somewhere decent for afternoon tea within 40 minutes or so of St Neots in Cambs, so Cambridge, Peterborough, M/Keynes, Woburn etc. Tried googling but best we can find is Fawsley Hall which is a little too far away from us. We've been to Luton Hoo in the past but weren't that impressed considering their hotel status. Anyone have any ideas?

I stayed at The Woburn Hotel at the weekend. Nice hotel, afternoon tea looked good but didn't try it so no first hand experience.

Burghley house - Stamford. Might take you a tad over the 40 mins but lovely!

Ely Cathedral? You'll get a decent afternoon tea (but nowt special) and the Cathedral is worth a wander around. The local museum is also good for a visit as is Thomas Cromwell's house but obviously these take a bit of time

Beckworth Emporium near Wellingborough is very good. It's about 45 minutes from St Neots centre according to google maps.

The Poets House in Ely. Not had the tea myself but it looks great and their service when we had our wedding there last month was impeccable.

Thanks all, some interesting suggestions there. We’ve gone for the Woburn hotel option so hopefully will be as nice as it looks on the website smile
