I've noticed more and more pubs / restaurants are doing breakfast and not just the places attached to hotels. Recently I’ve been to Havester and Toby Carvery and I have to say they are pretty good for the money. I would imagine the local greasy spoons aren’t too happy but for only a couple of quid more than a cafe you can get a pretty decent start to the day.

Anyone been to other similar establishments?

Never ventured in, but a local Crown pub does an all you can eat breakfast for £4. Could be dangerous.

AYCE English at the Toby Carvery near us is £3.99 during the week, of course they then charge you £2 for a coffee but still, it's decent grub for next to nothing.

My first post here on Pistonheads, I've done most of the popular food chains breakfasts and find Brewers fayre to be the best

Oh and Franky and Bennys are worth a mention for their excellent Triple stack pancakes with egg and bacon for £5.

Me & the OH go to our local Crown for breakfast quite often. Normally when we can't be bothered to cook. £5 with a glass of juice, and the food is always fresh and hot.

Can't complain tbh.

I LOVE Franky & Bennys breakfast.

Haven't had anything there that I haven't enjoyed.

Coffee is unlimited, though.

I've been using Tobys like this for a couple of years. Must try a comparison test with Crown and Harvester.

We go to any Premier Inn, all you can eat free coffee and juice plus the kids eat free. I think it costs 7.50 each so £15 for the 4 of us. Bargain

Not unlimited though, so not as good value.

Depends on your definition of value really!

Of course.

I'm not a gourmet by any stretch, it's bacon, sausage, eggs and stuff, FFS. Breakfast. I'd happily pay a bit more for something special, but I'd likely have to pay 7 or 8 quid for good quality sausages and dry cured bacon so I'd rather make that at home.

This kind of thing attracts me for the AYCE aspect. I've been to a couple of Tobys and the food has been perfectly acceptable and being unlimited there's been loads of it so it's really been properly brunch as I didn't eat until dinner time.

Had one at a Wetherspoons recently and it was ok but more expensive and not as good as our usual Saturday morning breakfast from a local independent cafe. The Mrs paid an extra 50p for mushroom with hers and it turned out to be a single mushroom not all that much bigger than 50p biggrin Free coffee refils was a nice touch though.
I was a bit surprised at how many people were sat in the pub with a pint on the go at 10am on a Saturday.

If I could afford it and didn't have type 2 (and a fiance) I'd probably be with them!

Whenever I go racing the day starts with a fry up and a few pints in a spoons, the only time I like the places, picking a few winners with a fry up, guiness and the racing post, lovely.
