Used to do waitrose at my old place. missus was never convinced it was value for money. I am sure with their free delivery and offers I got their stuff cheaper than sains etc.

This was 2 years ago - havent used online shopping sinced we moved. Now need to.

So which one is best / cheapest these days? Talking sains, ocado or waitrose. not doing tesco.

which has the best app? just want it easy and not too expensive. with delivery costs are waitrose cheaper? I shop at farm shop for the real food this is all the other bits. is there any difference between ocado and waitrose?

thoughts?

We use sains as we know the products and which we like/don't etc. I must say I find their website a bit poor in terms of UX. AND they always seem to arrive about ten mins before the time slot I specify but they do wait outside if I'm not there.

Very rarely get subbed items, bloke is always polite etc, prices and offers good and same as in store, can't moan really, I often pick a late night delivery slot and it costs £2, which really is a bargain I think.

shop at sains at mo and happy with their products but had bad experience with them before with deliveries. do wonder if i add delivery costs if they are cheaper. mind u nearest waitrose is a far away here although new one opening in a few months. waitrose website used to be awful but couldnt ask for more pleasant delivery people - they even gave us a "free" bottle of wine when our kid was born!

I just use the website to be honest, we order the same stuff nearly every week so its quite simple for us. We've never had an issue and have been doing it nearly two years now, I live on a fairly long road and I do see more sains trucks than anything else really so it would seem they're doing well in that arena.

Ocado for me. First year of free Tue/Wed/Thu is free and the app is quite clever. I tend to do my order at the weekend and then use the app on my phone to add the stuff I forget

quick peep at their app makes me like them. seems weird the whole relationship with waitrose though i kindof like the fact waitrose is picked at the store but guess it makes no difference. what sort of delivery do u pay normally?

It varies, when I first started using them they had loads of free slots, but that stopped and they introduced the idea of paying £60/70 annually.. from memory they range from £2-6 I think.

I use them all, depending on what I'm buying.

But I've always found Ocado to be the best. Missing items or substitutions are very rare - 19 times out of 20, everything is there. Timeslots are 1 hour (most are 2), and you get a text on the morning of delivery, also an email with your receipt in PDF format.

Downside to Ocado? Well, it's certainly not the cheapest, and some of their product range is limited (which is why I use other supermarkets from time to time, to get stuff that Ocado don't do).

Another great service is Tesco's same day delivery which I use if I'm in a hurry - nobody else offers that (order before 1pm for delivery after 6pm the same day.)

EDIT TO ADD: I pay for Ocado's delivery pass (SmartPass), £4.99 a month by direct debit. You get 10% savings on some products, and you get as many free deliveries as you want. So if you do more than a couple of deliveries a month, then it's definitely worth it.

ooh 4.99 a month sounds good as we'd be looking at weekly thanks

That's for deliveries anytime. If you restrict your choices to just Tues/Wed/Thu, then it's even cheaper than that! (can't remember if it's £2.99 or £3.99...)

Its worth registering with most of them as you can take advantage of all the introductory discounts. I've just had 4 lots of £10 off and free delivery from Sainsburys.

Ocado haven't been partnered to Waitrose for at least 5 years now. They don't sell any Waitrose products anymore but do have their own ranges instead.

Yeah I only just got a Waitrose Naan Bread on Friday when they came..

I'd recommend Ocado, I've used most but these seem great for availability.

Asda by far the worst, most weeks 20% of the stuff was subbed or not there.

If you use the MySupermarket web site, it will price up the basket in each supermarket so that you can choose which one to use

Personally I tend to go for the one which has some specific products that I like that only that supermarket has that I want for that particular week.

Waitrose and Sainsbury's are in the top tier - one hour slots, decent quality products etc

Asda I have had the most problems with - unreliability on timings, dodgy replacements

Tesco's are the middle of the bunch

Only one that I have not tried is Ocado

We alternate between Sainsburys/Tesco/Ocado, usually whichever one has sent us the best voucher as we haven't used them for a while.
