You've had a st day, all you want is to have your dinner and go to bed. What is your ultimate comfort food? For me, it's got to be two fried eggs on toast with cheese melted on the top, loads of pepper and Reggae Reggae sauce. What's yours?

Don;t have a comfort food like that as such, but if I'm working late in the office there is nothing better than a Byron Burger.

BK whopper with cheese, double if I'm being a fat knacker.

Thats if I'm working rather late. If I have time to go home and get the Mrs to cook me something its usually a good old shepherds pie that hits the spot.

Oh, aaaanything involving bacon basically.

My diet is pretty good mostly, lots of fruit and veg, luckily I love veg. I have the occasional burger. I gave up take-aways a long time ago, and I don't miss them. I started to realise them for the salt-filled, fatty rubbish that they are.

But bacon....I defy anyone to delete it from their diet completely.

Sometimes, if I am on a 'good' week, I still indulge in the bacon of a Saturday - but grilled, in brown bread, with huge chunks of fresh tomato, lettuce and cucumber too...you get the bacon fix but alongside that, the fresh healthy-ish accompaniment of the wholemeal loaf and salad too - a good combination.

However - hangover bacon is a different matter. THAT needs to be fried, decanted from the pan before it has crisped up too much, hence holding onto most of the frying fat - then placed upon white plastic bread, with nothing else except lashings of ketchup (or brown for the freaks). Mmmmmm. Nothing like it!

Spaghetti Carbonara. Within little bits of crispy pancetta nestling in among the cream, egg and parmesan.

Cream? That's not a proper carbonara...

Whilst I understand that truly authentic carbonara does not contain cream I'm afraid I prefer it with a splash, and egg and plenty of parmesan. Egg and bacon pasta. Yeah!

If I've had a really crap day/hard week. It's Friday. Comfort food required? I turn to:

Southern Fried Chicken: Yep, in breadcrumbs, but skin off and definitely bone in for flavour. Thighs preferably.
Chips.
Coleslaw.
Corn on the cob.

Washed down with a bottle of well-oaked, buttery Chardonnay.
Brandy to finish. To hell with dessert.

I occasionally substitute slow-cooked Ribs finished in the oven with home made BBQ glaze.

This. Is. Why. I. Am. Fat...
