I've really got into gin & tonics over the last 3 years after the father in law getting me on it on an all inclusive holiday in Cyprus. So in that time I've only really stuck to the Hendricks, Bombay Sapphire, Tanqueray and Gordons, but back in february on a 6 Nations Rugby jaunt to Endinburgh I tasted a German gin called Monkey 47 and it was absolutely fantastic, the nicest one I've tasted so far!!

So show me your Gin or recommend me one I can buy!

Yup. Went on the distillery tour recently and liked the whole business really. Their Sloe Gin is lovely too.

Think I prefer Plymouth to various other decent gins i've had including tanqueray which was also very nice.

Once you decide which botanicals you like in a gin you could try making your own, it's pretty easy and a very good excuse to sample a lot of it!

I don't like it.

I don't like Bombay either though and a lot of people love that.

Current favourites in no particular order:
  • Tanqueray 10.
  • Hendricks.
  • Sipsmiths.
  • 50 Pound.
I have a bottle of Caorunn to give a go soon.

I'm also happy just to be served std Gordons tbh.

Tonic has to be full fat Schweppes. I've yet to try anything I prefer over it.

Tanqueray is my favourite, Bombay I liked but wasn't a fan of Hendricks.

I've started keeping sliced lime in the freezer too instead of messing round finding them when I fancied a sip drink

Good point about the Tonic, perfectly good Gin can be ruined by a tonic that isnt to your tastes. Schwepps or Fever Tree for me!

Plymouth or even better Plymouth Navy Strength. Schweppes with a slice of lime and some ice (not a huge amount).

Hate Hendricks, Tanqueray is okay, but just Gordons with a skirt and high heels. Gordons is drinkable, but only if there is nothing else.

Always like to try different gins from my travels.

But always, always come back to Plymouth, being a Plymuff bey and all that.

I use 31dover.com for my gin.

In no particular order I'd suggest trying

The Botanist
D1 London Gin

And outside of that site Boxer Gin. For cheaper treats I tried Greenall's wild berry at the weekend. That was also very good and reasonably priced.
Also try pomegranate seeds with gin. They go well.

Portobello road is very nice (very very clean) but my favourite is Monkey 47. The Martin Miller gin is very pleasant also. Oh and Bloom is quite pleasant for a sunny day.

Tanquerary 10 for me. Hendricks gives me hangovers.

Just as important is the tonic. Fever tree is definite preference, can't stand schweppes as its too sweet. Lime, not lemon

Also, good quality ice is critical!

I saw it for sale in Brussels for €39. Such a shame the shop was shut or I would have come home with a boot full. ETA it seems to have come down in price. I'm sure it was nearly £50....
