And now for something completely different, and no, it's not gin, but.........

It is very very nice and comes from the makers of fine gin
I've got the XO one, haven't opened it yet. Love the bathtub gin too.

I've built my own Gin Parlour in my garden. I say built, I cleared out and renovated and recycled the brick barn that was full of decades of 'useful stuff'...

This is a most excellent term that will be shamelessly stolen.

CoT - Recently bought a bottle of the botanist. Meh. Went and bought another bottle of Beefeater 24, much prefer this. To be completely honest, I do prefer Monkey 47, but as this works out at nearly 5 times the price per drink, I'll stick to Beefeater 24 which is 98% as nice.

Have a bottle of this https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/7942/jensens-b... as my only gin at the moment and quite like it, although I'm tempted by getting a bottle of Monkey 47 due to the reviews on here. smile

We only have one bottle of gin residing among the many whiskies (for shame)..

http://www.ungava-gin.com/english.html

As a newcomer to gin, having nothing to compare it against, it is erm, nice! My wife and here friends tell me it is very good though.

I don't even know how to drink gin properly, other than mixing it with tonic?

I've seen Ungava in duty free a few times but haven't picked up a bottle to sample yet. Looks interesting though.

I've just ordered a bottle of Daffy's Gin Manor Racing edition, the tasting notes sounded interesting:

Daffy’s Manor Racing Edition Tasting Notes:
Nose: Initial notes of lime zest, complemented by burnt caramel and buttery shortbread.
Palate: Refreshing citrus sorbet, warmed by chili, spice and wood.
Finish: Homemade Key lime pie, creamy and smooth with a long and warm glow.

Feel hungry just reading that lol

I have not been overly impressed with Monkey 47, may be in the mix as the first time I tried it in a bar I loved it. Much prefer Bathtub, any recommendations on similar?

Anyone a member of this lot? Saw them on Dragon's Den, thinking of giving them a shot for a bi-monthly order.

Just as a little snippet of an addition to this thread, I ordered a bottle of gin from the Isle of Harris distillery at the weekend which arrived first thing this morning. Not bad considering I'm on the south coast and about as far away from Harris as possible while still being in the UK.
As for what it's like, no idea as it's intended to be a birthday gift.
I live locally to Harris and im a fan (maybe biased) of Harris Gin - try with grapefruit and a good tonic

I did the tour and cocktail class at the Bombay Sapphire distillery in Laverstoke a while back (corporate day). It was really good and I would definitely recommend if you like gin and are in the area.

Agreed, red grapefruit gives a nice tang! I was on Harris in June and took three bottles back with me for myself and a couple of presents. Couldn't make my mind up if it tasted any better with the sugar kelp syrup or not but at a tenner for a little bottle of it, it's fantastic marketing. Definitely up there with Rock Rose imho.

cheers,

Yep my wife got it me for my birthday last year, quite enjoy trying a new one each month, most of which I've never heard of before.

I'm flying to the states in a few weeks and want to take a bottle for some acquaintances who I notice drink gin. I'm basically limited to what's in the duty free and want to pick something that isn't available there, any thoughts on these:

Sipsmith
Opihr (oriental spiced London dry gin)
Caorunn
Botanist
Plymouth
Chase Williams extra dry great British gin
Gin Mare
Martin Millers

HTH.
Don't recall any of the others, though my local shop did have more than 40 types of gin when I last looked.

Edit - added Chase Williams, recognized the bottle.

I'm probably heading that way this weekend, stocks are running low, I'm let you know if I see any of the others.

Ok, being perilously low on both tonic and gin, I picked up some safeway tonic along wih a few 'Q' tonic bottles and headed over to the liquour store.

Ended up with another bottle of Beefeater 24 as I wasn't overly interested in being adventurous.

I recounted their stock - 82 varieties of gin. No changes to the list above though.

I special ordered Isle of Harris gin; be interesting to see what that costs.

Of the ones on your list, I'd be tempted to get the Caorunn first, then Sipsmith. As an aside, before I moved here, US friends always wanted me to bring in Plymouth Gin for them. It might have been harder to get then, ~10 years ago.

Picked this up in Helsinki on the way through recently, served on Finnair flights with Fever Tree tonic and dried cranberries absolutely fantastic.

Also just finished a bottle of this http://www.ungava-gin.com/english.html pretty good, and yes it really is that yellow.
