Show Me Your Gin!
Discussion
Well, that's a discovery. I have always thought a good Bloody Mary is ruined by the taste of the vodka. Just tried a red snapper - basically a Bloody Mary made with gin instead of vodka. Opihr in this case. Very, very good. Better than without the alcohol. I like.
50 ml Opihr
280 ml tomato juice
Frank's Hot Sauce (or tabasco)
Worcestershire sauce
Celery salt
Juice of half a lime
ice

I'm so happy to see the 4 Pillars love. Lovely gin. One of my all time favourites.
I just picked up a bottle of their Negroni blend gin.

I haven't read the whole thread so apologies if these have been covered but some of my favourites at the moment in order of preference are:
1. Silent Pool: had this at my cousin's wedding and it's my new favourite. I can't go on alcohol related websites on my work server (which is great when trying to organise a team night out at a bar!) so can't link to their site but look it up. Sublime stuff.
2. Bloom: Nice balance of botanicals and really refreshing.
3. Mason's Yorkshire Gin lavender variant: I've only had in in pubs with tonic and it's marvellous like that but I need to get a bottle and experiment at home with other additives e.g. rosewater, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks etc. Some'll work, some won't but I will put in the effort in the name of science!
4. Opihr: Must've been mentioned already. The intense cardamom takes some getting used to initially but it's bloody delicious. Great after a curry.
The Mason's Yorkshire Tea variant was a bit disappointing though. Bit of a gimmick.

Not my picture, as I can't be bothered to fetch it out of the cupboard but: https://www.whiskytastingroom.com/old-raj-gin-70cl...
55% ABV, yellow tinge due to the saffron used. I tend to mix it with Fevertree Mediterranean, and nothing comes close.

That reminds me, managed to get a friend to bring me back a bottle of this from the Balearics. Still my all-time favourite
Yeugh!I like Gin, especially gin and lemon so I was looking forward to trying this on a trip to Menorca last year. I bought a bottle and after a few sips, it was left in the rented villa for the next unsuspecting tourist to try. Tasted like the worst quality supermarket gin you can buy over here. No thanks.
These people run a distillery local to us.

Well worth a look. They make a few things. The seaweed-infused one has won the awards (depending on batch has a greenish hue a bit like Bathtub) although personally I prefer their standard botanical version which is really heavy on botanical flavours. Possibly more of a summer G&T where those bold flavours are diluted a bit in a taller glass with more ice and citrus. We certainly get through jugs of it in the garden when the sun's out...

Have the following lined up for a gin tasting session with a couple of mates in a few weeks time:
Brockmans (current fave I think - I really like smooth style gins)
Warner Edwards Rhubarb gin (to be had with ginger beer and lime)
Berkeley Square
London Hill
Eden Mill Love Gin
Bloom
Monkey 47
Bulldog
Langley
Martin Miller
Brooklyn
Blackwoods.
Other than the first 2, so far I've only tried the Eden Mill Love. Tend to have them all in a tall glass, plenty of ice, tonic and at least one fresh lime squeezed in.
Comments from folk who tried any of the above (and have others to recommend) welcome.
There's only 4 of us....going to be a heavy night me thinks
