The Monkey 47 is lovely, with Fevertree!

But Hendricks is the staple of my collection at the moment!

Looking forward to some family coming over to visit as a prerequisite is that they bring a bottle of nice Gin....Should boost the collection a bit biggrin

Monkey 47 for me.

Neat over crushed ice with a twist of lemon.

That list is interesting.

I normally have Hendricks or Tanqueray. I recently tried Aldi's "Oliver Cromwell" gin. I like it.

Based on the list above, I will get a bottle of the Lidl gin this weekend.

The tonic that I use is Waitrose own label. I find it indistinguishable from Schweppes, and it is half the price.

My Sister, all her Gin drinking mates and my wife love Shortcross gin, according to their website they won a silver medal at some international spirit competition. It's 30 odd quid a bottle if that's any guide to quality?

A spot of Tanqueray, I find the little Schweppes cans with a double gin work about perfect

After my earlier post about the Aldi gin, I spent a little time on Google.

The result was that I discovered that one of the main differences between gins is what are called "botanicals", in other words - spices. Common spices seem to include things like cloves or/and cinnamon.

The Aldi gin is very "clean". It doesn't have any strong tastes. Gordons, for me is a bit rough.

In wine terms, Chablis, Sancerre and Pouilly Fume are very "clean". However, I can see that many people would think that they don't have much flavour.

So, tonight I poured some Aldi gin into a glass and I added a clove. I left it for 10 minutes before adding the tonic, ice and zest of lime.

It is delicious.

I think that the clove will last for three drinks.

Tomorrow night I will try some cinnamon.

We have 13 on constant rotation:

Tanqueray Export
6 o'clock
Bloom
Silent Pool
Gin Mare
Opihr
Hendricks
Hampstead (from Lidl)
Adnam's Copper House
Rangpur
Plymouth Gin
Star of Bombay
BB&R No 3

However, in all honesty, of all these the only ones which for me are 'different' enough to justify the cost over boggo Gordon's are Silent Pool, Gin Mare, Hendricks and Opihr.

Fevertree are now doing little cans, too.
