Wedding booze.
Discussion
Hi,
I am having a little trouble with the last part of my wedding booze purchases, I'm based in Sweden so alcohol is ridiculously priced so Champagne is off the list, but I do need some nice/reasonable fizz of some kind. My father has mentioned Prosecco but I have no idea what i am looking at here as I'm a red wine drinker.
If anyone could come up with any ideas that I can see what I can find in the state run off licence that would be great, it just needs to be drinkable and reasonably affordable in contrast to champagne!
Thanks

Cava is not made from the Champagne grapes ( Pinot noir, Pinot meunier and Chardonnay) but is a blend of Spanish grape varieties( Macabeo, Parellada and Xarello) made using the traditional ( ie champagne) method. In some cavas there may be a small portion of pinot noir and chardonnay in the blend but it's not usual.
That's by the by - Cava is a better choice than Prosecco. What sparkling wines are in your Swedish state run off licences? You're going to be limited by what you can source locally.

Whilst the state run offys are not exactly cheap, they do have a mahoosive choice and they will order in certain things, so ideally I am looking for a little short list of popular fizz.
Basically I have no idea what I am looking at, neither my partner or I drink fizz much and it more often than not generates a headache, but we know we need some bubbles for just after our service and we are trying avoid lashing out a fortune on this as we have bought some nice wine and other drinks for the evening.

Can you not do the equivalent of our "booze cruises" and go for a weekend to another country where tax on alcohol is not as high as yours and bring back some champagne ?
I already did that for the main booze run, but I was not able to come-up with any solutions to the fizz problem, all the border shops were more focussed on day to day grog. NordicCrankShaft said:
Can't help with any ideas but you guys think you've got it bad, your lovely neighbours have it much worse. We did a beer run across the border last year to Sweden and plan on doing so again this year at some point!
It's crazy isn't it. I had to drive 1000Kms to Germany and back to get wedding booze, at least 50% of which was Swedish brands!!! how dumb is that. If you are really on a tight budget.... watch this....

Am I missing something? How will making a "kit car" help the situation... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
