So i seem to be eating about 10 chocolate digestives a day.
3 or 4 when i get in from work and a further 6 or 7 after dinner.
I dont have a weight issue, mostly because my job is very physical.
But that doesnt mean im happy scoffing 110% of my daily saturated fats in one sitting.
Cutting down on the number of biscuits i eat isnt going to happen either, they taste so good.

I guess the requirements are

  • Cheap
  • Simple to prepare
  • Long lasting use by date
  • Sweet (would possibly consider something savoury)
  • More healthy than chocolate biscuits.
What do you suggest?
Best i can come up with is a bag of pre cracked nuts (but i dont know how long they last?)

Thats not so simple to prepare, is it? Would it be healthy though? And how well would it keep?

As for apples. I get my five a day and dont really enjoy apples, oranges and bananas.
I like grapes but they go off quite quickly. I only seem to eat at home 3-5 days a week.

When you said prepare, did you actually mean 'take out of packet'? laugh

When you get home, have a slice of bread/toast with peanut butter on it.

After dinner, firstly, eat nothing for an hour after your meal. If, after that period, you're starving, you didn't have a large enough dinner.

If you're peckish however, eat three chocolate digestives. Or anything of that size/calories, really. But leave that hour's gap.

I think you may be surprised! It's often the remainder of the day's frustrations - and your body not knowing whether to relax - which drive post-meal cravings.

Forget it.

There is simply no replacement for a chocolate digestive.

Those Belvita things are crap. Like a ships biscuit. Swap to Jaffa cakes.

Rice cakes and marmite. Or just give up biscuits totally.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Only snag is the OP's intake will go up as chocolate hob nobs are properly addictive.

Easy peasy.

150 grams butter
150 grams brown sugar
300 grams porridge oats
3 tablespoons golden syrup

Mix all together, put in baking tray, oven for 25 minutes, sorted. Keeps perfectly well except it will be eaten in double quick time. Healthy? All natural ingredients....
