Reservation made at the Royal Oak - thanks everyone!
Eaten there a few times over the last 2-3 years. The last time was a couple of weeks back for my birthday. Nice place, very relaxed and informal.

Not sure it's 'proper' Michelin standard but it is a pub and I actually like it better than some of the more stuffy places. Prices are decent too.
I'll find out soon enough, 11 days til our visit. It has a star so I am sure the food is good. The proof will be in the eating!

Last night was the night. It didn't disappoint.

Staff were attentive, they were friendly, food was great, atmosphere was great, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

We had the bread pre starter (those garlic crisp slices were very nice), scotch egg, giuneafowl and ham hock terrine, iberico pork chop and roasted hallubut finished with caramel snicker and coconut with tapioca ball deserts with a coffee and petis four to finish. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and very good value. We will be going back.
