Is there anything good from Asda or Tescos or Morrisons etc. that you just can't get enough of? For example I really like Tesco's Chocolate Croissants, is there anything else anyone recommends? Own brand of course, or at least something none of the other supermarkets do.

Try Morrisons Sun Dried Tomato Bread, up there with any artisan bread maker. I was in the Penrith branch a few months ago looking for the said bread and the baker started to load the shelfs, seeing me looking and not finding he asked what I was looking for, so I told him. He said can you give me 20 minutes and I will bake you some, now thats service!!

Bloody good it was!!

I would, except I wouldn't like it. I don't like Tomatoes. Except tomato sauce/ketchup. And tomato soup.

Tesco Mediterranean bread; must include a sprinkle of crack in the recipe because it's lush.

Again, we pick up some great loaves from local market, food fairs etc and this is right up there with the best.

Roast cherry peppers stuffed with cream cheese from various supermarkets, sometimes deli sometimes in jars, always delicious.

Co-op sell three types of croissants; ignore the two in plastic packets and go for the fresh baked ones. Better croissants than I've had in France, even, and consistent across Co-ops I've bought them from in Hampshire and the Midlands.

Waitrose soffritto passata is also rather useful; I picked up a bottle by accident once but it made my bolognaise sauce so tasty I've used it intentionally since. Probably not a hidden treasure really because you pay through the nose over the cost of simply tomato passata, all to save yourself chopping and frying some carrot, celery and onion.

Tesco used to sell these amazing sugar cookies (imported from america) made from some sort of weird flour, pure crunch. Every time I go back and look for them to no avail.

“Meaty Beef Bones” in Morrisons, throw away item probably meant for stock but if you get some good ones there is loads of meat on them. Slow cooked and finished off with a drop of BBQ sauce.

Fresh yeast from the supermarket bakery. Around £1 for a block, enough for 40 loaves. It's not on display anywhere but just ask at the bakery counter.

Tesco. American style pancakes hot fresh from the in store griddle.
Plain for those days with bacon and maple syrup.
Or choc chip for a dessert with ice cream.
6 stonking pancakes for a quid.

Asda are the only place I know that stocks Ghanaian chilli and shrimp sauce....otherwise known as sto.

Sounds rank, tastes fantastic.
